WSVN -- So you weren't born with perfect skin, join the club.
Gretta Monahan: "No one has perfect skin. Even celebs have to work hard to look naturally flawless."
To get skin like the stars is all about building the right foundation.
Gretta Monahan: "So, first, you have to identify your skin type, which is typically categorized in three ways: normal, oily or dry."
If your skin has a shine, pick powders or oil-free formulas.
Gretta Monahan: "This is because they help control oil and shine."
For skin on the drier side, choose liquid or creams.
Gretta Monahan: "These formulas go on smooth and leave a dewy finish to the skin."
And, if you are normal, you're lucky!
Gretta Monahan: "For you, it's just about choosing the level of coverage you want."
Whatever your blend, the purpose is achieving a uniform complexion. You can do that with a brush, sponge or your hands.
Gretta Monahan: "Both of these tools work great. The brush might cost a little more, but the sponge uses a lot of product, so you decide."
And unlike the formulas of the past, these offer coverage that's nearly undetectable if applied correctly. So, the key to clean coverage is blending.
Gretta Monahan: "Many women make the mistake of loading on foundation to cover their facial flaws. Don't! That's what concealer is for."
And something no woman should leave the house without: It's great for under eyes, covering up acne and sunspots, and warming it up in your hands before you apply makes for easier blending.
Gretta Monahan: "OK, there's three types, the liquid is the most common, but we also have the stick and the crème."
Select a shade slightly lighter than your skin tone.
Gretta Monahan: "So, one of my favorite tricks of all is take your concealer, just a bit, and your eye cream, and now you can treat and cover."
Loose or pressed, here's the last step.
Gretta Monahan: "The secret to a perfect polished finish is the powder."
It sets makeup and picks up any slippery spots. So, you see, three simple steps will take your face from flawed to flawless. I'm Gretta for Gretta's Got It!
