Gretta's Got It: Shorts

WSVN -- This summer the staple is shorts, and all the celebrities from Charlize Theron to Kate Moss will be sporting the look, but it's one thing to wear shorts, it's quite another to know how to put the look together.

So there are three hot looks this season: Short, mid-thigh and below the knee.

Gretta Monahan: "So this look is great, and, believe me, fabric matters."

So what are the hot fabrics?

Silk, jersey, cotton, linen and denim.

Gretta Monahan: "This is jersey, and you can see it looks like a skirt. It's sexy and cute and fun, but she can go anywhere from work to play in this."

So, if you don't like the short look, you can go longer. This is cotton classic linen. She'll be cool and easy, but the styling is much more dressed up.

Gretta Monahan: "Designers are even skipping the skirt or long pants and making shorts into the perfect suit."

Now that you know which shorts are right for you, with accessories, go big and bold.

Gretta Monahan: "To keep your shorts look chic, but casual, opt to pick up a pair of sparkly thongs. If you want to go sky high, great. Do what the celebs do and wear your high heels, but never, ever wear a pair of white tennis shoes with shorts. If you have to, go with a simple pair of ballets."

And now, which bag?

Gretta Monahan: "For daytime, you want to go medium to large, and you want to stick with straw, canvas, even a little bit of rope is great."

For night, you want to go small. You want to go light at night. These little handheld clutches are perfect to keep the look chic.
