Gretta's Got It: Airport Beauty Fixes
As you head off on summer vacation, travel restrictions limit what makeup you can bring on the plane. 7's style expert Gretta Monahan shows us what must-have essentials will keep you looking your best when your out of town.
WSVN -- It's no secret that airport security is tough, but there are ways to land looking good, if you prepare.
Gretta Monahan: "So, plan out your packing. Decide what you're going to check and what you're going to take on, because it can save you time and money."
If you 're not careful, your expensive beauty products will be confiscated, so know the rules. You can't carry-on any liquids more than three ounces.
So, I like to improvise. Travel kits are a great way to downsize, and you can pick one up at any drug store.
Next, stow away your cosmetic case.
Gretta Monahan: "You don't need your whole kit on the plane, but you do need your bag of beauty basics."
And that's as simple as a Ziploc!
Remember, the rule: A quart-sized plastic bag will make it on, but not one that's a gallon.
My airline approved beauty bag has mascara, cream foundation, perfume, anti-bacterial lotion, lip balm, eye drops and facial mineral water, just the things Federal Security Director George Naccara says you can carry to freshen up after you touch down.
Gretta Monahan: "If I had a lip gloss under three ounces, and I didn't put it in a plastic bag, would it make it on?"
George Naccara, Federal Security Director: "No, it would not. You have to put it in the plastic bag. That's also part of the rule. "
While it's no secret that water is the best skin hydrator around, wait to buy your water after you go through security.
Make sure your carry-on comes with a zipper, because they sometimes need to turn luggage on its side.
Gretta Monahan: "And last, but not least, make sure you get a pedicure, because this is the easiest way to travel. So if you have to lose your shoes, flip-flops or slides can have you in and out in a second."
Once you've reached your destination, the first thing you want to do is moisturize and add a little lip balm. Your eyes and lashes will be extra dry from the flight, so my biggest tip is swipe on your mascara after you land. Now, you'll looking better than when you left.
