Gretta's Got It: Jewelry
Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but why stop at just bling? Our style reporter shows you the hottest fall jewelry trends that will have you glowing but won't break the bank. Gretta's Got It.
WSVN -- Gretta Monahan: "If you want to fall into some accessories this season, well, it's as easy as jewelry. So I'm going to show you the hottest looks around."
Earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings. Jewelry for fall '07 is all about fun, unique designs.
One of the hottest looks this season is jewelry made from wood. Wooden jewelry is the perfect accessory to pair with day or casual wear. The materials are au-naturale, so, if you are an eco-chic, this look is for you.
Gretta Monahan: "So my tip is mix and match different colors and types of wood."
Stringing a strand of pearls is still a staple this season. Pearls had been a fashion statement for decades and they are a must have but wearing them today is a little bit different than your grandmother did. So double them up and don't be afraid to wear them big and bold."
Gretta Monahan: "Pearls add instant drama and glam to any bare neckline, and you know what? Stick to singles and do them in different colors and lengths so that you can mix your own and have multiple looks, not just stuck with one."
Gretta Monahan: "What's great about pearls? You don't have to shell out big money because faux is the way to go."
You don't need to be engaged to sport a rock. Cocktail rings are the season's must have so don't forget the bling.
Gretta Monahan: "Big cocktail rings are always on-trend. They're stylish, and, with so many colors and stones, they add drama to any look. So, by adding a super-size ring, it will take you from basic to bold in an instant. Most have a built-in ring sizer, so even the XL's will stay on your fingers."
Don't rule out plastics, from runway to the street, it's one of the hottest looks around. Plastic beads are great. They are durable and look like glass. Try on a Chinese-inspired bracelet because it's plastic, you can wear the ornate look on a dime.
Gretta Monahan: "Go beyond your classic gold and silver because major metals are a must. Shine up your wrist, neck or ear with some brass, bronze, pewter or copper. Have fun and mix it up. Metals mixed with different stones and colors give you a fashion forward look."
Most of these styles may be considered costume, but that doesn't mean you won't look like a million bucks.
Gretta Monahan: "So now it's your job to take this season's trends and make a style of your own. I'm Gretta for Gretta's Got It."
