Gretta's Got It: Holiday Table
If you're entertaining for the holidays, there's no reason to stress over creating a festive holiday table. Seven's style expert Gretta Monahan has some of the latest tricks to dress your table in style.
WSVN -- Gretta Monahan: "When you're setting up your holiday table, you've have to make it special, so I decided to stop off to see my friends at Pier 1 because they always have the perfect accessories to top your table off in style."
Gretta Monahan: "Marsha, this looks beautiful. Oh, my goodness, I love it. So tell me about what we got going on."
Marsha: "Well, here we have a table set up in a way that we have showcased in two forms, so you can use it during the Thanksgiving season, then bring it on to the later holidays."
Marsha: "These are the candelabras you probably have at your homes but just using things, like putting the foliage inside the candle holder, helps accent and give that table that really warm Thanksgiving look."
Gretta Monahan: "And even the glass wear, these are classic shapes, but they still have a more golden, amber tinge to them."
Marsha: "Right, these can be transitioned from one holiday to the next. Even those classy dinner parties you throw any time of the year."
A great way to dress up your table? A charger. This charger is $10 and it just goes under your basic dishes and there you go, and you don't need to go out and buy new linens either. You can actually just purchase one of these fancy little napkin covers, cover up over your traditional ones and definitely take a look at some new napkin holders, which are really cool, and, for $5 or $6 a place-setting, have a whole new look to your table."
Gretta Monahan: "If you're feeling overwhelmed, what colors? What textures? What do I pick, Gretta? Don't. My fail-proof holiday table, whether you're doing cocktails or dinner, just go with silver or gold. Year after year it will be a hit."
But if you like your table traditional, no worries. Just be sure to stick with traditional colors, shapes and symbols, and you'll have it. One great thing about Pier 1, is they've just come out with four new lines to take all the work out of it, so you can have holiday cheer too."
Gretta Monahan: "So you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a million-dollar look. Just remember the little things, napkins $3 or $4 or go all out $35 and up. You can have a brand new centerpiece. Either way, your table will be dressed to impress. I'm Gretta for Gretta's got it."
