Gretta's Got It: Day of Beauty
Looking good and feeling good usually go hand in hand. When faced with a health crisis, sometimes a little pampering can go a long way. That's the case for one Mary Lou Moore, who's battling breast cancer but took time out for a day of beauty. Seven's style expert Gretta Monahan has her story.
WSVN -- Mary Lou Moore has dedicated her life to taking care of sick people.
Mary Lou Moore: "I've been a nurse for my entire career lifetime, and I'm in an administrative position now."
But, after being diagnosed with breast cancer, now she's the patient.
Mary Lou Moore: "It's a terrifying diagnosis."
But she's refusing to let it defeat her. She worked through her treatments, practiced yoga and got strength from her family, friends, even strangers.
Mary Lou Moore: "I had such a support system. You know you have colleagues, but it was the kindness of strangers that was incredible."
Today, she's cancer free, and to help her feel even better "the Gretta Team" is going to pamper Mary Lou and make her look and feel great.
Nicole Leone: "Hi, Mary Lou, nice to meet you."
Star stylist Nicole is about to work wonders with her hair. Mary Lou's hair has just started to grow in. She wants a fresh cut but thinks she'll skip the color.
Nicole Leone: "If you have a youngish looking style, I think you can get away without doing color, if that's what you want to do for now."
But first she gets the treatment. A deep conditioning treatment for her hair, and a massage to help her relax. Now, it's time for that trim but not too much.
Nicole Leone: "Everyone talks about how much you are going to cut or take off the hair, many times, but it's more important what you are gonna leave."
Next up, some new make up. First we prep the skin.
Deborah Tristao: "Did you notice any change with the chemo and your skin?"
Then we brighten up those baby blues. A pop of color, liner and mascara. Now a little bronzer gives her that healthy glow, and, lastly, those lips, and voila.
Deborah Tristao: "You are all done."
Now it's time for some style. Mary Lou looks through the racks for something comfy and casual she can wear to work. Look number one:
Mary Lou Moore: "I think it looks good. I like it."
Well, let's try another one. Look number two, and the winner is look number three.
Mary Lou Moore: "This is my favorite."
But let's get a look at her before her day of beauty, and now, what a difference a day can make, huh?
Mary Lou Moore: "No one spends this much time putting themselves back together again, so it's a real treat"
Enjoy the new you.
