WSVN -- If you ask Frank and Rosemarie about the joy their daughter brings them, don't be surprised if they tear up.
Frank Seguin: "It's a bundle of joy. It's all love. She is a wonderful child and she has a wonderful heart."
Francesca Lauren, an adorable 5-year-old girl with a loving heart.
Patrick Fraser: "Do you love them the most or do they love you the most?:
Francesca Lauren: "I love them the most."
And after her birthday party a few weeks ago, Francesca Lauren got to show how generous and caring she is..
Rosemarie Seguin: "And as I was unloading the car with all the gifts I realized it would be. It's just so much. It's just too much."
Rosemarie had come from her daughters birthday party. After looking at all the gifts a little girl gets Frank and Rosemarie sat down with Francesca Lauren and told her about their idea.
Rosemarie Seguin: "And we decided to talk to Francesca Lauren in reference to donating these gifts to children who don't have gifts at home for Christmas."
If you have ever had a 5-year-old, you know the difficulty of explaining to them that they had too many toys.
They then asked Francesca Lauren to give some of her birthday presents to needy children who wouldn't get Christmas presents.
Frank Seguin: "We were some what surprised that she was some what happy to just give in on that idea."
As she sorted through her new birthday presents, of course she had second thoughts, after all she is five. Then Rosemarie thought of a way to show her what these 20 toys could do for other children.
Rosemarie Seguin: "It would be a lot more meaningful for her to put them in the hands of children that need them."
Let Francesca Lauren see the faces of the children as they got her gifts. That's when Rosemarie asked us to help, and so we called the woman whose organization makes so many kids smile, Big Mama.
Big Mama: "I am sorry we are a mess. No you fixing to make some little kids happy."
Big mama had brought in three little girls and two little boys who would not be getting toys for Christmas and couldn't wait to see this sweet little Santa show up.
Francesca Lauren then looked around and spotted a newborn a few feet away, she now completely understood what her gifts could do for other children.
A generous 5-year old and her mother setting an amazing example for all of us and this gave Rosemarie an idea of what to do with extra birthday presents year round.
Rosemarie Seguin: "It would be wonderful to have an initiative where parents donate their excess gifts or duplicate gifts to an organization that can accumulate these things and hold on to them until Christmas comes and distribute them to children who dont have gifts."
Rosemarie has a great idea and Howard says it can have a tremendous impact.
Howard Finkelstein: "Think about it, many children get more toys than they need for birthdays and other events. If they gave a few all year long to various organizations we wouldn't have such a shortage at Christmas, so we need organizations that can collect year round to get in touch with us so we can let those people who want to give know where to go. Oh and by the way Merry Christmas.
Big Mama: "We need things all year long. We have like a Big Mama closet."
Big Mama loves the idea of everyone giving an extra toy year round, knowing how much of an impact it can have."
Great for the parents and a great lesson for Francesca Lauren.
She is just a little girl. Probably too young to realize how sweet it was to give away her presents. Too young to realize what an impact a 5-year-old had on other children.
If you are an organization that wants gifts year round contact me so we can put you on the list. Oh, by the way Merry Christmas.
