Help Me Howard is an unusual segment. Not a report of a disaster or a breaking news story, but a few people working to help solve viewers' problems. As Christmas approaches, many are left thankful, and someone else is thankful: the people at Help Me Howard with Patrick Fraser.
WSVN -- Simply put, we are thankful.
Luma Bugarin: "Thank you, Help Me Howard."
Thankful we got to meet the Bugarins, who were being stung by a neighbor's beehive. We got the owner to remove the hive.
It was nice to get a call from Susan Nylander, who had been waiting six years to get the sidewalk in front of her house replaced. It took us just a few days.
Susan Nylander: "My daughter says she's going to throw confetti in the air and say 'Thank you Help Me Howard' and I agree 100 percent."
Keven got ripped off by a scammer when he sold his prized pair of LeBron James sneakers to pay for a school trip.
Keven Rodriguez: "Oh my goodness, I'm shaking right now."
After our story aired, Nike and LeBron gave him a brand-new pair of LeBron A-Pre-Heat sneakers.
Keven Rodriguez: "This is unbelievable. Thank you, guys."
We were lucky to talk to Linda Ortiz after her dog got attacked by two other dogs. Their owner would not pay the vet bill. We convinced him to write a check.
Linda Ortiz: "Thanks to Channel 7, they reached out."
It was great to meet Alicia.
Alicia: "Ever since Patrick started making calls, my phone calls got returned promptly."
The woman who keyed Alicia's car didn't pay the court-ordered restitution. With a little nudge from us, she started writing the checks.
Alicia: "I am happy." And then Alicia made us all happy, sending a basket of cookies with my face on them. Great taste, ugly mug.
Some people can't tell us thank you. Deanna got hit with a $19,000 bill for a medical helicopter ride. Monica spent nearly $20,000 after a lab messed up and proclaimed her kidneys had failed. We helped both women get the bills taken care of, but in those cases the lawyers for the billing companies made them promise to never talk to us about it.
However, most people can tell us how happy they are.
Henry Dixon: "I could not have done it without Help Me Howard."
We got Henry's garage door opener replaced, and we helped bring an end to the bullying in the school of Matt's daughter.
Matt Gilley: "Help Me Howard made all the difference in the world."
We were lucky to help Maria.
Maria Bedoya: "Thank you!"
And JoAnn.
JoAnn Sparks: "Thank you so much."
We got Emanuel the $6,000 he was owed.
Emanuel Roosevelt: "I appreciate all that Channel 7 has done."
We got to meet Theresa.
Theresa Ferayorni: "I am very happy I contacted Help me Howard. They are great people."
And Jennifer.
Jennifer Hill: "We can't thank Channel 7 News for everything you guys have done."
And Patricia.
Patricia Morrissey: "I will keep you in my prayers for what you've done for me."
Keith was great to meet.
Keith David: "I want to say thank you very much to you guys, thank you to Help Me Howard."
We helped Tony.
Tony Piedra: "I want to thank you guys for everything you did."
We were lucky to meet Marilyn.
Marilyn Gonzalez: "Oh thank you, guys, for everything that you guys did."
And Mercy.
Mercy Arce: It's amazing. It's amazing."
And Kathy.
Kathy Keith: "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"
No, thank you. We sincerely are thankful to you for letting us help you, and if you have a problem, don't hesitate. Wait, Tim says it better.
Tim Roberts: "I have Help Me Howard on speed dial and I ain't playing. When I've got a problem I call Help Me Howard."
Thanks, Tim. No bad puns on Christmas, but here are the numbers. Give us a jingle and let us light up your life. All right, let us help you.
