The auditions provide countless "I'm going to Hollywood" moments, but now Hollywood is heading to hometowns across the country. As American Idol takes its show on the road hitting the open road Idol Style.
WSVN -- You may never tour the country with Carrie Underwood, but you can catch a bit of Carrie on a tour bus.
Nigel Lythgoe: "There is Carrie Underwood's dress."
If you thought you've seen everything Idol...AI fanatics this special seat is reserved for you on the brand new Idol bandwagon, rather this eco-friendly bus.
Nigel Lythgoe: "Well, it's going to 16 cities this biodeisel bus, that is so well groomed. I still can't get over, how well Fox Publicity have done this."
And while well groomed is not exactly the way I'd describe the "Idol Across America Mobile Experience" the bus is decked out. Chock full of actual on-air memorabilia from the hit TV show's 10 seasons.
Nigel Lythgoe: "There is David Cook's guitar, there's Randy Jackson's boots, which stink."
The boots are behind glass so chances are you're sense of smell will remain intact as for your sense of style.
Nigel Lythgoe: "One of Ryan Seacrest's suits, which they've probably broken into his wardrobe and stolen because he wouldn't give it away."
And if the Idol wardrobe collection and platinum records adorning the wall weren't enough. Also aboard the bus the chance to audition for a once-in-a-lifetime gig delivering Ryan Seacrest's iconic Idol open during an actual taping of the show.
OK, now that we've got you all pumped for a pit stop, here's the letdown of the 16 cities the bus will hit over the next few weeks. None of the stops include South Florida or Florida at all.
Jennifer Lopez: "Why did I sign up for this?"
Ahhh, chin up JLo. No bus? No problem.
With our big Idol insider budget we did the next best thing and drove our Idol mini-van straight to South Beach and let people do their best Seacrest and what will they win? Well, nothing.
