Living It Up: Miami Seaquarium
Living It Up is going wet and wild. Tonight, Jackie is trying to tame South Florida's marine life -- taking a field trip to the Miami Seaquarium.
(WSVN) --
We're living it up at the Miami Seaquarium. We're about to go behind the scenes and meet the stars who steal the show sea lion makes noise.Jackie: "Tell me where we are standing right now?"
Chris: "Right now we're standing on top of our reef aquarium, it's a 250,000 thousand gallon live pool reef."
Jackie: "I see quite a few big sharks in there."
Chris: "That was a tarpon."
Jackie: "I'm glad that's him and not me, it's cold too."
Jackie: "Hi Asia, nice to meet you."
Jody: "Asia is a California sea lion and she is a female and she is about 20 years old."
Jackie: "What is the secret to training a sea lion."
Jody: "We just use positive reinforcement."
Jody: "Put it out there firmly like you're asking for her flipper."
Jackie: "Want to shake my hand?"
Seal claps.
Jackie: "I don't think I have this training thing down, I say shake my hands, she claps, okay."
Jackie: "What other kinds of behaviors can we teach them."
Jody: "We can get you a kiss."
Jackie: "Oh, did you have fun with me today? Oh, thank you, you're so sweet."
Jackie: "That's the best kiss I've ever had."
Jackie: "Now we're off to meet Lolita."
Jackie: "How much fish does Lolita eat in a day."
Trainer: "She's about 7000 pounds and pretty much she gets as much as she wants, usually it varies between 160 and 200 pounds of fish a day."
Trainer: "Obviously, they don't really chew their food so they don't have any taste buds on that tongue."
Jackie: "It felt like a piece of rubber or something."
Trainer: "She's first going to blow you a kiss , but you have to blow one to her so that's basically taking your hand and putting up against your mouth and ummah, a big kiss."
Jackie: "I want you to lean all the way over look right there and she's going to come up and give you a kiss."
Jackie: "We had a blast living it up at the Miami Seaqurium, a big thanks goes out to all the trainers and all the animals.
Next week Living It Up reaches a new height.
Jackie tries indoor Rock Climbing.
