All Living It Up

Be afraid, be very afraid...Jackie's proving once and for all why she's a lean mean fighting machine. Tonight, she's Living It Up with a special guest... getting a kick out of Tae Kwon Do.

(WSVN) --- We are Living It Up at Young Tae Kwon Do in North Miami, if you've ever wanted to learn self defense, or heck even how to break things, well this is definitely the place to do it.

Jackie: "Tell me a little bit about the history of tae kwon do."

Ricky: "Tae Kwon Do is a couple thousand year old art and there are different varieties of Tae Kwon Do."

Jackie: "Is it more for defense or is it more for meditation?"

Ricky: "Well Tae Kwon Do is an all around martial art, encompasses defense and offense and there's also a lot of mental training involved."

Jackie: "And what is the philosophy?"

Ricky: "Our philosophy with tae kwon do is mind over body, a strong mind equals a strong body."

Jackie: "All right let's get started."

Ricky: "You got it."

Ricky: "Okay Jackie, We've got grandmaster Young Soo Do, he's also my father, he's been here for 30 years, he's going to show you some demonstration moves... self defense motions."

Ricky: "These are the motions, some of the basic motions of tae kwon do, where you will be able to take yourslef away from the situation, put the person down to the ground, and get away."

Jackie: "Grab him here?"

Ricky: "Now we are going to go into kicking techniques Jackie, what Tae Kwon Do is so famous for is kicking."

Ricky: "Put your right foot back, put your hands up, this is a fighting stance."

Ricky: "We're going to do what's called a turning kick."

Ricky: "You are going to do a combination of kicks and punches."

Jackie: "So I'll be breaking the boards with my feet and my hands?"

Ricky: "Absolutely"

Jackie: "Who's next?"

Ricky: "Hey look who's here, it's one of our students, the one and only Drew Rosenhaus."

Ricky: "These are 2 inch concrete slabs and there's 7 of them."

Jackie: "This is how he intimidates the NFL teams."

Jackie: "Well that's what it's like getting tough learning Tae Kwon Do, I'm Jackie Johnson, 7 News."

On Thursday, Jackie's fulfilling every kid's fantasy.

You'll have to watch when she learns to become an Engineer on a real train.
