All Living It Up

Tonight, Jackie Johnson grabs a bathing suit and some weights to try an underwater workout. She's Living It Up with Aquatic Kickboxing on Key Biscayne.

(WSVN) -- We're living it up at the Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne. Today we're going to try an underwater workout called Aquatic Kickboxing.

Jackie: "I know nothing about aquatic kickboxing so just tell me a little bit about it."

Bianca: "Basically it's aqua aerobics umm mixed in with kick boxing."

Jackie: "Is it better for you than regular kickboxing?"

Bianca: "It doesn't let you hyper extend as you do in kickboxing. The agility is a lot more in the water than it is out."

Jackie: "What does it help workout the most."

Bianca: "It's a total body workout, stomach hips gluts quadriceps hamstrings. It does a lot of arm workout like in kickboxing you do a lot of triceps biceps and you work a lot your shoulder and chest."

Bianca: "It gets your heart rate up 80-85 percent."

Jackie: "What kind of stuff do you use for the class."

Bianca: "We use these weights basically as resistance under the water."

Jackie: "Water thingies that's the technical term."

Jackie: "I've got the aquatic dumbbells, I think I'm ready I'm going to join the class already in progress lets go see how hard this is."

Jackie: "They're light. I can do this it's easy."

Bianca: "If you want more resistance definitely bend your knees a little more and get a little more."

Jackie: "It's a lot harder when the dumbbells are in the water than out."

Bianca: "Good, lets punch forward and we'll go straight to kicks again, forward bring it back, forward and back. That's it."

Bianca: "Your leg is up and bent okay your weights are immersed in the in the water, so your kick and stepping, so kick step kick step, kick step."

Bianca: "These are really good for your waist, hips, gluts."

Jackie: "Definitely where I need to work out."

Jackie: "I am not working out, yes I am sitting in the corner while they're doing stuff yes, I'm a slacker."

Jackie: "I can do this, wait for me."

Bianca: "The front kicks basically you have the weights, emerge them in the water, put them right beside you as balance as we do in kickboxing, you tilt a little bit our pelvis kick forward and bring it down."

Bianca: "Kick and bring your leg straight down Jackie: so I'm kick to the side; a little bit and then your bring your leg straight down."

Jackie: "What does this workout?"

Bianca: "This one works the hamstrings quadriceps coming out right here, kick , and hamstrings straight down."

Jackie: "I'm getting tired, is this over yet."

Jackie: "Check out these, check out these noodles."

Jackie: "I definitely feel a little bit of a burn so the work out was great, so thank you, thank you for joining me today, I feel buffed, these are the results, laugh."

That's what it's like living it up aquatic kickboxing. If you'd like to try it out, get out to the Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne.

Be sure to join us Thursday for the Living It Up South Florida has been waiting to see.

Jackie gets a very controversial golf lesson from Fuzzy Zoeller.
