Living It Up: Making Homemade Ice Cream
It sounds like the sequel to Willy Wonka. Tonight, it's Jackie Johnson and the Ice Cream Factory. Jackie's definitely Living It Up for this one. She's surrounded by 60 of her favorite flavors learning how to make homemade ice cream.
(WSVN) -- We are Living It Up with all the right ingredients, this time serving up America's favorite treat, we stopped by Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor, and we are going to show you why they are world famous. give me back that ice cream."
Jackie: "What is the process of making this ice cream?"
Monroe: "We start with pure cream and sugar, we put it in a churn in our freezer and it takes approximately 8 to 10 minutes to churn out a batch."
Jackie: "Well sounds excellent, what are we going to be making today?"
Monroe: "Today we are going to be making cherry, black cherry chocolate chip."
Jackie: "And what do you think the secret is to making great homemade ice cream?"
Monroe: "Good stuff... real cream, real sugar, real fruits and nuts and all the good things that we were raised on."
Jackie: "I get to eat it afterwards right?"
Monroe: "Right out of the machine."
Jackie: "I love my job."
Monroe: "Okay Jackie this is where we make our ice cream."
Jackie: "The ice cream room."
Monroe: "This is our freezer right here."
Monroe: "And we are going to pour in the cream, and the flavoring."
Monroe: "Do this first and then you are going to put this on next."
Jackie: "It's getting started."
Monroe: "This is going to take about 8 minutes."
Jackie: "8 minutes feel like forever when you are waiting for ice cream."
Jackie: "I think I need to sample everything today just to make sure it's alright."
Jackie: "We are ready."
Jackie: "This is wonderful!"
Jackie: "So we are actually going to make one of these famous kitchen sinks."
Monroe: "Everything but the kitchen sink, you can have up to 6, 7 flavors in it."
Jackie: "And it's all for me."
Jackie: "Black cherry chip is what we are going to start off with, that's what we made earlier, it actually takes 8 hours to freeze, and thank goodness for editing."
Jackie: "This is the most beautiful piece of art that I've ever seen."
Jackie: "Well that's what it's like Living It Up making homemade ice cream at Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor, I'm Jackie Johnson 7 News."
On Thursday, Jackie's back to her daring adventures.
She's hanging by a harness trying to survive a ropes course.
