Living It Up: Neil Goldberg's Cirque
Forget about a three-ring circus -- we've got something completely different tonight. Jackie Johnson's letting her acrobatic skills take center stage. She's Living It Up Like A Star with a group that turns fantasy into reality. We are Living It Up with Neil Goldberg's Cirque and these guys, they're not clowning around, these are some serious circus acts.
(WSVN) -- Jackie: "So just tell me a little bit about Neil Goldberg's Cirque."
Heather: "Neil Goldberg Cirque is an internationally touring production company, it's basically a theatrical circus."
Jackie: "I don't think a lot of people realize this. Its home base is here in South Florida."
Heather: "This is a world class state of the art facility where they can train everyday and it's a very creative atmosphere."
Jackie: "And it seems like it's very physical also, what do they do to train to do this?"
Heather: "The women and gentlemen start when they are very young...they train 7 days a week, they train about 4 hours a day."
Jackie: "So what kind of costumes, they like to be very flashy or lots of color?"
Heather: "Lots of color, lots of originality, even size, there are costumes that somebody as small as myself can put on that will make me 10 ft tall."
Heather: "This is the aerial chiffon act. Now once the skills get perfected it's 30 ft in the air
and also they go in a circle, a huge circle out over the audience."
Jackie: "Anybody every fly off?"
Heather: "No."
Jackie: "Hopefully I'm not the first."
Jackie: "I think I like this, you are doing all the work."
Jackie: "Okay what am I doing here?"
Heather: "This is the German wheel."
Jackie: "Living It Up becoming a gerbil for the day."
Jackie: "Here I go!"
Jackie: "This takes a lot of strength."
Heather: "There is any number of different tricks that you can do with this
...of course you don't just roll back and forth, you can go, he sits on top of it as it rolls, he goes inside and out of it as its rolling."Jackie: "So a lot of people focus on one thing."
Heather: "You do need to apply yourself fully to one skill, especially reach the caliber of act that we require."
Heather: "Come on Jackie it's time to get you in costume."
Heather: "We have hundreds of costumes all made in house."
Jackie:
"We are going to play dress-up."Jackie:
"And that's what it's like living it up with Neil Goldberg's Cirque, I'm Jackie Johnson 7 News."Next week, strike a pose.
Jackie's learning how to be a model with the folks at Ocean Drive Magazine.
That's next Friday at ten.
