All Living It Up

Tonight, Living It Up is all about the Benjamin's. Jackie Johnson's getting a taste of the good life...the very good life. She's going for the gold...Designing High End Jewelry.

(WSVN) -- We are Living It Up today with every girl's best friend and here's a hint, Valentines Day is coming up, so for all you guys out there, you want extra brownie points, here's a hint, design your own jewelry.

Marilyn Monroe: "Diamonds are a girl's best friend."

Jackie: "Now I hear you are very talented at designing jewelry for individual people, how do you do that?"

Kanti: "Basically it's knowing what the customer wants, listening to what their needs are, what their tastes are in jewelry is."

Jackie: "And they make it right here in the store right?"

Kanti: "Absolutely, yeah"

Jackie: "Now normally how long does the process take of you designing it and to the actual product."

Kanti: "It all depends on how intricate the piece is, it could take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month."

Jackie: "Okay you ready to get started?"

Kanti: "Yeah"

Jackie: "This is an emerald cut that we have just acquired and I'm going to create a mounting for it that's something other than traditional."

Jackie: "This is beautiful, and it's $89,000."

Kanti: "These are going to be small diamonds, rather than a traditional look, I'm using pink diamonds."

Jackie: "It kind of gives it an antique look when you use the colored diamonds doesn't it?"

Kanti: "It also accentuates the center diamond."

Kanti: "Alright Jackie, let's start drawing."

Jackie: "Look a picture of you, there's your glasses."

Jackie: "Oh you want me to design jewelry, I thought you said just draw."

Jackie: "What should I design, a necklace?"

Jackie: "I want the stone to be the yellow diamond."

Jackie: "So this is where the jewelry is made."

Kanti: "This is where we do our manufacturing, where designs are turned into finished pieces."

Jackie: "So when you custom make something for somebody they first make a wax model so if they don't like it."

Kanti: "You are not going to a great deal of expense and yet it gives you a chance to alter things before it's to the customer's satisfaction."

Jackie: "And this is what it should look like."

Kanti: "Alright Jackie, this is the final product."

Jackie: "Wow Kanti this is beautiful, good job on the ring, and this is the necklace I designed, $60,000, a big thanks to Levinson's and a big thanks to you, I had a lot of fun today, I gotta head out of here..."

Cop: "Jackie Jackie I'm sorry but you are going to have to leave the jewelry here."

Jackie: "What I can't take it home?"

Cop: "No that has to stay with Levinson's."

Jackie: "Fine, I'm Jackie Johnson, 7 News."

Next week, Jackie's getting a breather.

But you can catch her a week from Monday when she takes on a top secret challenge.

This thing is so big, we even had to get her a partner.
