Airplanes are sleek and made of the finest steel. But what happens to its' parts once it's grounded? Tonight, fasten your seatbelts, as Belkys takes us inside a recycled house in this Luxury Living report.
(WSVN) -- It's like taking off and landing in a 747...
Or parts of it anyway, when you walk through the gates of this Miami home.
That's because at every turn there are recycled pieces of old airplanes.
Stephan Duprat of Stephan Design says, "I work a lot with metal and the best metal you can find is basically on airplane, and when they don't use it anymore you can get it for a good price.
Designer, Stephan Duprat bought this two-story home three years ago.
He's used airplane parts in virtually the entire house... Starting with this very unique looking staircase.
Stephan says, "This is? This is the flap of an airplane, it looks like a wing, but it's actually a part of the wing."
And from an old engine turbine -- Stephan created this fireplace.
From the stovetop to a tabletop... to a couch... airplane metal makes its' mark.
But it's not the only recycled material in the house.
Stephan also uses old hospital equipment, like this door for the bathroom.
Inside you'll find a sink...But not like the one in your bathroom.
Stephan says, "The water goes along there's no sink, and to push the water you just press on the little pedal down there."
Walk up the wing flap stairs to the loft style bedrooms.
"Oh cool, what is this? That's like a hanging bed, it moves."
This unique bed inspired by an afternoon siesta.
Stephan says, "I love to be in a hammock but I hate to be squeezed, so I had the idea of doing this like a hammock but you can sleep on it, it's great.
Step outside and fire up the grill made from a jet engine.
Or swing on parts used in airplane wheels.
"You're a creative genius I tell you. Talk about. It's the ultimate in recycling is what it is."
This house is modern, antique and above all interesting.
Stephan designed not only the house, but designs and makes the furniture.
