They say diamonds are a girl's best friend, but the truth is any jewels will do, Tonight, Samuel Getz, the former owner of Mayors Jewlers, shows us his new store at the Village of Merrick Park.
Now, famed jeweler Samuel Getz is turning shopping for gems into a unique Luxury Living experience.
Think of it as doing a little shopping in the comfort of your own living room... only this isn't your living room... it's the Samuel Getz Jewelry Salon at the Village Of Merrick Park.
"We're here all the time," says Getz, "and we want it to feel like a home. We want people to come in and relax and feel comfortable."
Samuel -- once the CEO of the Mayors Jewelry chain -- decided to take his gems to a higher level last year.
Now he travels the world looking for precious stones to make one-of-a-kind pieces for his luxury-loving customers.
"I believe the true sophisticated luxury consumer wants something that's truly uniquely theirs," says Samuel, "and not something that everybody else has."
Take these garnets -- like most people, I thought garnet meant red.
"These are all garnets," says Samuel.
Oh wow, and they're all different colors.
"All different colors, yes," says Samuel. "People don't realize the variety that gems come in."
"This is an aquamarine that I found," Samuel points out.
Found? Where do you find this?
This incredible aquamarine came from the Ukraine -- Samuel came up with this elegant design for a necklace.
It starts with a stone, then a sketch -- like these strands of black diamond beads, which will eventually become these chokers.
Everything in the salon is absolutely stunning, from these 36-thousand dollar chandelier earrings... lined with over 10 carats of diamonds.
Darn, they're stuck on my ears, must be my lucky day.
To this 14-carat -- 300-thousand-dollar diamond ring.
Back away from the rock. Step away from the bling.
"I truly believe there is something ethereal," says Samuel, "something that we don't truly understand, that's magical about finding the right gem for the right person."
The right person guaranteed to be the belle of the ball...
The gold, the platinum, it's such a hard life.
There is something for everybody at Samuel Getz.
Some of the pieces at the salon start at about one hundred dollars and they go all the way up to 300 thousand.
