It's kind of like going to the movies without having to wait for tickets. Today, a lot of families are choosing the ultimate in home entertainment. They're kicking up their feet in their very own Luxury Living theatres.

(WSVN) -- Eddie Murphy has one in his house.

So does director Steven Spielberg.

But these days, you don't have to be a famous celebrity to have a real theatre in your home.

Robert Ruderman of Harmony Home Systems says, "In the past three years people have been spending a lot more time at home, and they really want to spend more time with their family, and it's really a cocooning society now."

Now you see it, now you don't at this Fort Lauderdale condo.

It's home theatre system is equipped with a video projector and a drop down movie screen, and that's just in the living room.

"It was actually a big challenge to put something in there that gave them a phenomenal experience but at the same time wasn't seen," Robert says.

In the family room you'll find a 50-inch plasma TV.

But part of a home theatre system these days isn't just the screens... It's the lighting and sound.

In this condo, the window treatments close themselves, there's music in every room, and even a piano that plays itself...

And it's all done at the push of a button.

Robert says, "They can push one button and everything happens. We can have the lights dim and the TV fires up, and, you know, a DVD will start playing on the screen. We really want to be able to make being at home a pretty special event."

This Miami Beach estate's home theatre is pretty special too.

The homeowners have a dedicated movie theatre, nestled between the home's gym and solarium.

"This is the way to see a movie, absolutely," says Jay C. Miller of Acoustic Innovations.

The theatre has ten seats that fully recline, a state of the art electronics system, plus a 100-inch diagonal screen, which is hidden behind a traditional movie curtain.

Plus, check out this unique ceiling.

"People are just choosing this as a lifestyle option that they can enjoy," Jay says. "Now something to this grand extent is a little over the top, and not everyone will have the budget to do something like this."

In fact, this homeowner spared no expense -- from the entirely soundproof room, to the plush carpeting, to the movie poster on the wall.

"For that real spine-tingling effect, you really need big sound, big speakers, big electronics," Jay says.

So heat up the popcorn and pull out the checkbook, for this Luxury Living movie lover's dream come true.

Jay says, "There are theatres that we have been involved with that have gone into the mid six figures."

In fact, Jay says people spend millions on these home theaters... He works on the architecture and the look, and another company deals with the sound and electronics.
