All Luxury Living

They may be industrial and rough on the inside, but they can be transformed into some of the most luxurious homes. Lofts have been a standard in New York City, but as Shireen Sandoval shows us in tonight's luxury living, loft living is heading south.

(WSVN) -- Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze lived in one in the movie, "Ghost."

So did Adam Sandler in "Big Daddy."

Lofts have been part of the New York City skyline for decades, and now they're popping up across South Florida.

Jocelyn Bagge from Intrepid Real Estate Company: "It's not a type of living for everybody, but there are a large amount of people down in Miami that would love to live in a loft."

That's because lofts have a lot to offer like plenty of space and 18 to 20 foot high ceilings.

At Parc Lofts in Miami's new Arts District that's exactly what you get.

But unlike New York's old converted warehouses, a six story, 125 foot high building is being built from the ground up.

Inside, they'll be 72 lofts resembling this model.

Jocelyn: "The luxurious thing is this type of loft there's only going to be a handful compared to all of the other condominiums that are available."

Industrial meets luxury at NEO Lofts along the Miami River.

Neo Concepts CEO Lissette Calderon: "It wasn't just about building a loft, it was about building a loft in a very special area."

Developer Lissette Calderon, says she chose the Miami River site because of its' historical roots.

But when you walk inside the building, it's all about modern day comforts.

Lissette: "We wanted to build 20th century amenities meaning the elevators and the closet spaces, and some of the things that aren't traditionally associated with lofts like the balconies."

Like the Zen like lobby... Filled with bamboo and river rocks imported from as far away as Indonesia... To the olympic size pool.

Conrad Bonet, from Bonet & Associates Interior Design: "We tried to create an environment that is not only exciting and appealing but it's kind of exotic at the same time."

In this unit, the owner wanted to set his bedroom apart and conrad did just that with this glass wall.

From the kitchen... To the living room... To the study... The loft look is simple, clean and modern.

Conrad: "Here every piece is like a piece of art, and they become very important."

NEO lofts is sold out, but the developer has a similar building going up nearby. Parc lofts is under construction and expected to be complete by july 2005.
