Sun damage and wrinkles are inevitable in South Florida, but what if you could erase that damage without going under the knife? A new laser treatment promises a younger, fresher look. Seven's Diana Diaz shows us how this Laser Lite works.
WSVN -- When Minda McQuiston turned 50, she didn't exactly like what she saw in the mirror.
Minda McQuiston: "My face just was sagging everywhere, I mean the jowls here and the eyelids."
She had a face lift, but years of sun exposure had left her skin damaged.
Minda McQuiston: "My skin texture and the lines here and all the sun spots were still there."
That's when she found out about a new weapon in the battle against aging called the Fractional CO2 Laser.
Dr. Marta Rendon: "We are seeing tremendous results, improvements in fine lines and wrinkles and pigmentation and acne scarring."
Dermatologist Marta Rendon says the new technology can target smaller, more specific areas of the face.
Dr. Marta Rendon: "The advantage of that is that people have less downtime. They heal faster."
Gil Ingram was also seeking a younger, fresher look without major surgery.
Gil Ingram: "I have some lines. I'm a little vain, and I would like to look the best I can."
So she decided to try the Fractional CO2 Laser.
Here's how it works: A special camera takes pictures of her face to pinpoint the damage, then a topical anesthetic is applied and the laser goes to work.
The procedure takes about 30 minutes.
Gil Ingram: "In three, four days they may have a little bit of peeling. During the first two and three days, maybe four days, but they'll be healed in a week."
Minda says a couple days after her laser treatment she witnessed an amazing difference.
Minda McQuiston: "And I saw this rosy, pink, tight wrinkleless, spotless skin."
She loves her new look and feels it's taken 20 years off her face.
Minda Mcquiston: "It's a miracle. It really is."
Diana Diaz: "Dr. Rendon says the laser can reverse sun damage, smooth fine lines and help fade brown spots and acne scars, but it's not cheap. One treatment will cost you about $2,500, but most patients only need one session."
