They've seen doctors, taken medicine, even tried different treatments.
But for the first time in years, they've finally seen the light.
"It's the most amazing thing."
Once a month, both men go to the Infratherapy Treatment Center in Miami to lie down on what's
Called a polychromatic infrared bed.
It's so unique there are only six like it in the entire world.
Jaimie Arkelian: "Right away the body starts to heal itself, the healing process begins."
Jaime Arkelian runs the center.
She says the machine uses infra-red light
.You lie down for about 25 minutes and instantly you begin to feel a hot tingle.
"It actually helps stimulate blood in the body to the bones."
Healing everything from minor aches to tendonitis to arthritis to even fibromyalgia.
Jaimie Arkelian: "The average person would need about 4 treatments."
The therapy is FDA approved and there are no known side effects from the radiation.
But, pain specialists are skeptical.
Dr. Dennis Patin: "I would not as a board certified pain specialist use it without further information."
Doctors tell us they would warn their patients about trying the infrared therapy until more studies are done.
Dr. Dennis Patin: "What I would like to see as a scientist or a physician is the manufacturers claim backed up by scientific literature."
But according to the treatent center, anybody can use it unless you're pregnant, epileptic or have blood clots in your body.
Ricardo Tirado:"I have not felt better in years."
Nick Quay: "She really kinda given me a new lease on life."
Both Rick and Nick say their pain is gone -- thanks to light therapy.
Nick Quay: "If people would just open it up and give it a shot, even if you don't believe in it, just try it once, it's amazing."
Each treatment costs about $150.
In some cases, your insurance may pay a portion of the costs.
