Medical Reports: Laser Lift
As we age, everything tends to head south, and, for women, their breasts are often the first to go. Instead of undergoing painful surgery, Seven's Richard Lemus show us how doctors can now give you a Laser Lift.
WSVN -- What comes up, must come down. Whether we like it or not, gravity is a fact of life for our aging bodies.
Vonnie Goldberg: "I find that gravity is not my best friend. Everything is going south."
Including Vonnie's breast. Even the breast stroke and chest exercises aren't enough to keep the 52-year-old's chest from sinking.
Vonnie: "I am noticing, as I'm getting older, they are not as firm as they were. I need to work out more to get the same results."
Vonnie doesn't want to undergo a surgical breast lift, so instead she's getting a laser lift.
Dr. Kurt Wagner: "This is not a substitute for the knife, but surely it can delay it for some time to come."
Doctors at the Sanctuary Medical and Aesthetic Center in Boca Raton are using the Accent Laser normally used to tighten the face to boost breasts. The laser heats up the skin around the chest, causing it to tighten and lift.
Dr. Jason Pozner: "What this does is cause secondary collagen changes to the skin. Basically what you are doing is improving collagen that's been damaged by sun damage, time, age and other factors."
The laser is painless, and there's no downtime or damage to the skin. Patients need three treatments, two to four weeks apart and should see results in about a month. But doctors say don't expect miracles. The results are minimal, and it's not for large breasts.
Dr. Kurt Wagner: "This machine is for those people who have moderate problems, not for huge breasts."
Vonnie had three treatments and already feels uplifted.
Vonnie: "I've definitely noticed a difference. They are firmer and just feel more lifted."
She's also noticed a difference in her husband...
Vonnie: "He can't keep his hands off me anymore."
This laser lift costs anywhere from $750 to $1200 per treatment. You can expect the lift to last about a year before you may need a touch up.
