Medical Reports: Firm Solution

WSVN -- To look at her now you'd never know petite Alicia Hunter had a life-long struggle with weight four years ago she made a decision to drop big-time pounds.

Alicia Hunter: "I put a plan together myself and lost 56 pounds in a year."

The only problem with the 44 year old's weight loss, the fat was gone but she hated the loose skin left behind on her stomach.

Alicia Hunter: "I feel like when I lean over, there's rippleness, almost like a sagginess. A laxity in skin that no amount of sit-ups could tackle."

And like many women in their 40's, she started to notice a sagging jawline.

Alicia Hunter: "This is a pretty dominant area for women the skin tends to be very lax here."

Dr. Jill Waibel-Board Certified Dermatologist: "We lose collagen, part of it's from sun damage part of it is from normal aging. We want to find a way to stimulate it and grow it back up."

Instead of having surgery or laser treatments, Alicia decided to try a new device called Ematrix.

Dr. Jill Waibel: "This is a radio frequency device. It does get the top of the skin but it really fans out and goes deep."

The light device works by sending energy deep beneath the skin to really maximize collagen production.

Dr. Jill Waibel: "We're heating the collagen because we know when we heat the collagen we will create a wound response in that collagen and we'll get more collagen."

Alicia Hunter: "You feel tighter right away."

The doctor simply runs the device over the skin and the tightening treatment takes about 20 minutes.

Dr. Jill Waibel: "It's not painful, like a sunburn prickly feeling. After it you're going to be red, maybe three to five days there might be peeling."

And unlike lasers it can be used on all skin types without scarring or burning.

Dr. Jill Waibel: "These devices can safely go where no laser can go."

Alicia had two treatments done on her jawline.

Alicia Hunter: "I definitely feel like it's a big difference it's not something that I no longer I feel like I need a neck lift."

As for her stomach, she still wants a third treatment but feels it's already a firm solution.

Alicia Hunter: "Internally it feels tighter. It almost feels like I have a girdle on I definitely feel like I did hundreds of crunches."

Patients will need one to three treatments and results can last up to a year or more.
