When you get a new cellphone, chances are the old one ends up in a drawer somewhere, but why not dial for dollars with your old phone? Seven's Lynn Martinez has details in tonight's Money Monday.
WSVN -- Gary Kornbluh has found an easy way to make extra money, he's selling off his old cell phones.
Gary Kornbluh: "They were old phones that were in my drawer, and instead of ending up in a landfill somewhere I figured maybe I could raise a couple of dollars."
Gary made $250 by selling four old cell phones to USell. An online company that buys back and recycles old cell phones.
Douglas Feirstein: "We believe that everybody needs extra cash and we want to make it as simple as possible."
Here's how it works: Look under your phone's battery for the make and model number. Then, go to USell and enter the information. Hit search and see how much they'll pay.
Douglas Feirstein: "Apple iPhone 4 gigs, 16 gigs memory $169.00."
You can get as much as $200 dollars for newer phones. Get the quote and fill out the mailing information. USell will send packaging and pay for shipping. And a couple of weeks later the check's in the mail.
Gary Kornbluh: "It's a great way to bring in a little extra cash and I guess everybody pretty much needs that nowadays with the economy, and it's a great way to help the environment to to recycle."
At USell they want to make it as easy as possible to recycle old phones. They will even take in phones that no value at all they also plan to buy used ipods, ipads and digital cameras.
