Money Monday: Sale Locator
Everyone loves good sales, but constantly scanning the paper or driving from store to store can get old. On tonight's Money Monday, 7's Lynn Martinez tells us how shoppers can now find the best sales with the click of a mouse.
WSVN -- Jerry Riems just got a sweet deal on a TV.
Jerry Riems: "So this is the TV I bought. It's a Samsung 51 inch plasma."
But finding the best sale price was a challenge.
Jerry Reims: "It was a big inconvenience it would take me sometimes all day to go to each store."
Then he heard about salelocator.com. A search engine for your computer or phone that shows what's on sale and where.
Jerry Reims: "I found it downloaded it and been using it ever since. It was very convenient and easy to use."
To find the sales nearest you, go to the website and enter your zip code or on your mobile the app uses your GPS then you can enter what you're looking for.
Cyd Falkson: "What that's going to do is it's going to save you time and it's definitely going to save you gas money because you're not going to have to go to store to store looking for the best deal."
You can also shop by season, category or store.
Cyd Falkson: "We estimate that on average, shoppers that use sale locator to plan their trips can save at least 30 percent.
Best Buy manager Kari Chaffin says more people are beginning to use online and mobile sale info.
Kari Chaffin: "I think our customers are becoming extremely savvy shoppers. They literally are doing their research before they come in a lot of times. The phone is becoming an extremely instrumental tool. Ultimately the customer is equiped to really speak to what is the best price out there."
It worked for Jerry he got his dream tv on sale and saved big.
Jerry Riems: "I saved almost a $100 on the TV and it was well worth it."
Lynn Martinez: "On average sale locator provides information on $257,000 sales all across the country every day."
