All Money Monday

Looking for a job can be a real challenge, but thanks to a new online site that search just got easier. 7's Lynn Martinez tells us more in tonight's Money Monday.

WSVN -- Katherine Fleischman runs a small PR company, but lately she's thinking about a change.

Katherine Fleischman: "I'm kind of looking around for opportunities in the PR Field."

She's hoping to get on with a big company and to help her find a job. She's using a new job search site called startwire.com.

Chris Foreman: "We're a free website that allows job seekers to organize all their job applications and get automatic updates on those applications. From right now, about 5,500 companies.

Here's how Startwire works: Sign up online. List the jobs you've applied for and the site takes that information, organizes the applications, tracks your progress and tells you who is interested.

"Their biggest problem these days is not finding a job out on the web. It's applying for a job and never hearing back. We track all your job applications and if a status on your application changes, we send you a text message or an e-mail."

The site makes other job recommendations in your area based on what you've already applied for. And it integrates your Facebook and linked in accounts to help a job hunter take advantage of personal connections.

"So as soon as you tell us you've applied for a jo, we literally give you pictures of those people so that you can quickly send them a note and ask them to put in a good word with the hiring manager."

Startwire says the technique triples the chance of getting hired. Katherine saw activity on her applications right away.

Katherine Fleischman: "Even in a few days I've already seen some results so definitely a great source to use for any job hunters out there."

Lynn martinez: Startwire says the number one job search tip is to network and to be first in line to apply when you hear of a job opening."
