Money Monday: E-Meals
Trying to plan the right meals can eat up your day. But now you can do it all online. In tonight's Money Monday, 7's Lynn Martinez shows us a website that can save you time and money.
Veronica Mullins: "Quick and easy!"
She has all the ingredients and a great recipe thanks to an online meal planning program called e-meals.
Veronica Mullins: "i just take the list, I print out the list from the computer, go to Publix and buy what they tell me and I cook what they tell me."
There are 11 different plans from classic meals to gluten-free and vegetarian.
Heather Brown: "What type of eating do you like? Do you like clean eating paleo? Are you a family? One or two people? That way we can kind of match up what you need with our meal planning system."
Sign up online, it costs $5 a month for a year's membership. Every week the grocery list arrives via e-mail, organized by section and coordinated with weekly sales at selected stores.
Heather Brown: "We cover stores like Publix, Whole Foods, Target, Walmart, and if we do cover your store we match up the prices so you know at the bottom of your sheet we save you this much money."
Veronica is on the portion control family plan and she's saved big since she joined 3 years ago.
Veronica Mullins: "We've saved about $6,000."
She saves because she sticks to the e-meals menu and buys only what she needs.
Veronica Mullins: "Before I was throwing food away, food was getting freezer burnt, and by the time I was ready to use it, to the trash it would have to go. So now whatever I buy, I use."
It's one more online tool for busy people to save time and money.
Heather Brown: "All you have to do is think about here's my grocery list, check it off go in there and you know you're saving as much as you possibly can."
