Parent to Parent: Text 4 Baby
New parents can never have enough information about what to expect during pregnancy or in the first year of baby's life, and now the latest information is available on your cell phone. 7's Lynn Martinez tells us more in tonight's Parent To Parent.
WSVN -- Enzo and Faith Grossi are ecstatic about the new addition to their family, little Anthony Charles. They're also excited about a special new information service called Text 4 Baby.
Enzo Grossi, Anthony's Dad: "Seems like a pretty good opportunity."
Text 4 Baby is free and comes special delivery to moms and dads via text message on their cell phones. Giving all the latest info on pregnancy and baby's first year of development.
Faith Grossi, Anthony's Mom: "Having the availability on my phone any time I need it. If I see the information coming via text message I'll know, do I want to do more research? Should I call the doctor? Should I look for signs in my children? It's a wonderful program."
Text 4 Baby is an educational program by The National Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies Coalition.
Terri Brevda, who runs childbirth classes at Memorial Regional says it's great for new parents.
Terri Brevda, Peritnatal Educator, Memorial Regional: "What I love about the Text 4 Baby program is that it's almost like a little free mini health care plan. This empowers parents to reach out and get this current evidence based information free and hopefully we'll have healthier pregnancies."
It's easy to sign up, register on-line or use your cell and text baby511411, and you're in the system. You'll get all the latest on prenatal care, nutrition, and immunizations. Anything relating to maternal and child health. New mom Karla is expecting her first baby in April.
Karla Arbefeuille: "It's always good to have a little extra information, especially about immunizations, and hopefully if they can provide with me specifics about where I live here in South Florida that would be really beneficial to me."
The goal is, better information, healthier moms and babies and less premature deliveries.
Terri Brevda: "I think this is fantastic. I am so excited about this and I wish that everyone would spread then news."
And if for some reason you decided you don't want the text updates anymore all you have to do it text stop511411 to discontinue.
