All Parent to Parent

There's a local school where kids are really rockin' out and many have already showcased their talents in front of an audience. 7's Lynn Martinez shows us in tonight's Parent to Parent.

WSVN -- He's got the look. He's got the talent, but this rocker is only 11-years-old.

Rajeev Kapoor: "Guitar basically is my life because I've been doing it for so long."

Rajeev picked up the guitar at the age of six when he spotted his first rock video.

Rajeev Kapoor: "It was Guns n' Roses and I saw Slash and then that was it."

He decided to join other kids with musical talent at Live Modern School Of Music in North Miami.

Juan Diaz: "We want the kids to discover what kind of music, what sounds they like."

Juan Diaz started the school to help kids aged six and up develop their skills with the instrument of their choice.

Juan Diaz: "Electric and acoustic guitar, we have bass, electric and acoustic bass, we have drums and percussion."

The school offers one on one instruction as well as classes in music theory, ear training and song writing.

Juan Diaz: "They're learning to write music as they're learning to read music.

Even the little ones are taught to appreciate different sounds and beats. Nick's love is the drums but says coming to this school has really broadened his horizons.

Nick Villamizar: "It actually taught me how to open up my taste for music."

He and three other students formed a band, and the best part is they get to perform live through the school.

Nick Villamizar: "There's kids who get really good at it and they get to go out and play in different venues and shows we get invited to."

Rajeev loves rocking out on stage and already knows what he wants to be when he grows up.

Rajeev Kapoor: "Definitely to be a famous rock star, and record and have my own band, and travel across the world."

Lynn Martinez: "The kids get to perform at least one live concert every semester and they do offer a summer camp."
