Protecting Your Pet: Mobile Vet
Don't have time to get your pets to the vet? Well now, the veterinarian can come right to your front door. Diagnosing animals in the driveway from a medical motor home. Here's health specialist Marilyn Mitzel with today's protecting your pet.
WSVN -- Hectic lives make it tough for many folks to get their pets to the vet.
Pet owner Betsy Siegel: "I have two babies under two. So to get two babies in the car with two dogs and a cat was virtually impossible."
Problem solved. Now when her animals need health care the vet comes to them...
Betsy Siegel: "I tell people that my vet just pulls put to my front door, they're in complete disbelief."
Doctor Avi Adulami owns, operates and drives "Smiling Pets" a mobile vet clinic.
Veterinarian Dr. Adulami: "We start from the physical exam we do all the preventable stuff..vaccines, the heart worm prevention, they check for worms. We do teeth cleaning, we do also minor surgery, we do spade, neuter, tumor removal and things like that here."
There's room for all kinds of creatures.
Dr. Adulami: "Mainly cats and dogs but there is a big space for birds and other exotics."
Now "Doc" can't do everything here a full service animal or emergency clinic can - but it's great for basic care.
Dr. Adulami: "Very good. very good, nice and clean! you are in good shape!"
Expect to pay a bit more for this personalized service.
Dr. Adulami: "Our house call fees start from $30 dollars to $60 dollars to $75 if we have to drive more than 40-45 minutes."
But it saves time and trouble.
Betsy: "He drops off food and medicine and vitamins. It has made my life so much more easier."
And it's less traumatic for the animals since you don't have pack them up in the car - which is a bonus if they get car sick.
Betsy: "I love that old fashioned doctor care we don't seem to have anymore."
Dr. Adulami: "Basically our philosophy is to be the other family doctor."
Betsy: "He knows me, he knows my family, and he knows my pets."
The animals seem too like it too.
Betsy: "The dogs hear him pull up in front of the house and they just run to the door and I open the door and they run out."
At least some of them...
Betsy: "I have to carry the cat, but the dogs run and they just hop right in. Its been great."
