Room for Improvement: Foyer Makeover
You see it as soon as you enter a house, but it's usually the last place people think to decorate. Tonight, our makeover maestro is reminding us why first impressions are so important. Here's Martin Amado with room for improvement.
WSVN -- Foyers are more than a traditional space into the rest of your home, They give a preview of what's to come ahead in other areas, so if the foyer isn’t looking good, you've lost em at hello. on today's Room For Improvement, we are putting our best decor forward to make sure we're making a lasting impression from the moment you open the door.
Martin: "Hi Mr and Mrs Barron nice to meet you."
Mrs. Barron: "Nice to meet you Martin."
Martin: Are you guys ready for today?
Homeowners: "Oh yes."
Martin: "So, this is your foyer or do you say foier?"
Mrs. Barron: "Oh Foier."
Martin: "And it's pretty empty."
Martin: "Well I have some great ideas so I'm gonna send you away, enjoy your day together, have lunch go to the park, hopefully you'll have a brand new home."
Martin: "The goal for this foyer is to make it feel more inviting as opposed to just an empty hallway, which is what it looks like now. I know it looks like a lot, but better to have more to choose from than not enough when it comes to decorating."
Martin: "I love this niche right now but being that it is the same color of the wall, it gets lost. so i am actually going to paint it the color of their family foom back there."
Martin: "This is the only painting we are doing today, I promise. It's a stubble change, but it makes a big difference."
Martin: "Ok, while we are waiting for that to dry, let's decorate the foyer."
Martin: "Consul's are perfect in any foyer and now by adding the mirror on top, it really gives the wall presence, now depending on the size of a foyer, if it's too narrow, try using a shelf, hung low."
Martin: "Now you can see home some paint and some decorative wall art really turns a niche into something special."
Martin: "I am adding two pedestals with plants on the end of the foyer to define the space even more and create a more dramatic entrance into the rest of the Baron's home, by anything would work so also keep that in mind."
MartinL "Well that decorative box is the final touch, it not only looks great in a foyer but it's also practical because it gives you a place to put your keys, possibly any loose change."
Martin: "This morning the Foyer was an empty space but as soon as i saw it i knew it was filled with lots of potential and with a a budget of under 500 dollars, it's become another showcase space, within the home, let's hope the Barron's like it."
Martin: "Open your eyes."
Homeowners: "Wow, whoa wow, you outdid yourself, very nice. Look how cool this turned out."
Martin: "So what do you think? it's a balance of the modern that you like with your table and if you notice the rug with traditional which you have still happening."
Martin: "I hope you enjoy it, it was a pleasure meeting you both thank you for being on the segment."
Homeowners: "I hope I will see you again."
At the beginning of the day the foier was lacking any real personality, but now it's become a space that says welcome home to Gigi and Guy and hopefully come on in to family and friends.
