All Room for Improvement

Every week someone invites our makeover maestro Martin Amado into their house. This week -- a real gamble. In tonight's room for improvement, our homeowners want martin to turn a spare bedroom into a Vegas style gameroom.

WSVN -- You know, most kids have a special place to call their own and make a big mess if they want to and we call that a Playroom. The adult-version is a Game Room, so on today's Room for Improvement, we are turning a spare bedroom into a place where the grown-ups can also enjoy fun and games.

Martin: "Hi Jessica, how are you?"

Martin: "Ok so this is your spare bedroom. What do you envision for the space."

Jessica: "Ah, the Vegas theme. She's extreme lover of Vegas. We have game nights where my sister and friends come over. We never really a little space that we could do that in."

Martin: "Since both Jessica and Debbie love Vegas, I've decided to turn the space into a hip lounge where games and cocktails can be enjoyed, 24/7."

Martin: "I like this table to hold the roulette table. But I don't like the unfinished wood. It's a little to country looking. So, you're going to paint it black."

CHEAP FIX

This is a great way to update furniture. Instead of throwing it away a quart of paint can give it a brand look. I found these casino-themed prints which go perfect in the space, but they still don't make enough of a statement for me. By adding a green mat around the print with paint, it will give the wall art the visual impact I'm looking for!"

Martin: "That's good. That's really good."

Martin: "Pick a Card any Card. Awesome. The trick here is we're going to use this card to personalize a photo frame to match the decor in the room."

MARTIN'S MAGIC

So what we're going to do is get a glue stick and glue the cards right on the mat. In the end, this is what it looks like.

Martin: "Here's the glue stick, here are the cards, get to work."

Martin: "Can't have a Vegas room without Neon Lights."

Martin: "Drum roll Please. Add pretzels over here. I'll do peanuts here. We have the bar right over there. Cause it can't be a true game room without some snacks and some drinks."

Martin: "In one day and with a budget of less than $1,000, we've turned a bland, spare bedroom into a hip contemporary lounge. Where adults can play games listen to music or simply hangout."

Martin: "One two three. Open your eyes.

Jessica: "Cool. That is really nice. That is very cool."

Martin: "What do you think of the color choices?"

Jessica: "Awesome. Awesome. I love it. I like the frames with the little cards around. Nice."

Martin: "Cashing: That's a good way to end the day."

Although we worked on a Game Room, there was no playing around when it came to its design! I took a decorating gamble that through accessories and color choices we could capture that Vegas vibe and in the end, it paid off! Especially for the homeowners, who hit the jackpot with a brand new space! Until next week."
