Home makeovers on a budget and one day transformations are coming your way. Let's meet our first home owner and come to her rescue.
Martin: "Hi, Room For Improvement here to help"
Melissa: "Hi nice to meet you"
Martin: "So this is the room that is causing a decorating dilemma huh?"
Melissa: "You can see the space here, it's kind of an unusual shape and I just can't seem to pull it together."
Martin: "Does your husband know we are doing this?"
Melissa: "Not really, I wanted to surprise him."
Martin: "When you come back you are going to have a beautiful space. Sound Good."
Melissa: "Can't wait."
Martin: "Ok, it's 9 am and Melissa just left for work and I need to start shopping. It's a long day ahead before the magic happens."
Martin: "The shopping has been done and now it's time to sweat."
Martin: "Take a look at the room before - one last time."
Martin: "What we are going to do, just by changing the furniture layout, it is automatically going to give you that cozy feeling."
Martin: "Now that the furniture is in place, let's set up the curtains."
Martin: "Here is a tip on putting up curtain panels. Always put them first on the rod to use and act as a reference only because you don't want the curtains to be too high. Sweep the floor just a little bit right there."
Martin: "It's always good to add one ring to the opposite end of the bracket so at night, it acts as a stopper and doesn't let the curtains slide to the center."
Martin: "And to finalize the look, tassels are one of the most inexpensive ways you can dress up a window. They also become functional because if you want."
Martin: "Use them like you are supposed to be as, as tie backs to tie back the curtains."
Martin: "Now that everything is in place, it's time to accessorize."
Martin: "Always go for clearance they are great and they save you a lot of money."
Martin: "Basic dinner plate, we are going to start with a candle escape and you do that by just having three different candle heights on one plate and it turns it into something really nice."
Martin: "By using a big charger that I found, it also picks up on the wicker theme
Martin: Always try to combine textures and carry it to different areas of the room because that way it makes it look purposeful and it's going to give it that designer touch for your home."
Martin: "Ok guys we are in the home stretch, this is our deco-design tip of the day. I love this cabinet, I just don't like that it has completely see through doors."
Martin: "An easy solution for that is just to buy a simple place mat for three dollars and place it on the inside of the door and staple it."
Martin: "Ok, lets take a look at the before and after. What a difference and guess what, we did all this for just over a thousand dollars. But what do the homeowners think. Here they come now."
Martin: "Come on in, keep your eyes closed. When I say three you can open. One-Two-Three"
Melissa: "Wow, oh martin, it's beautiful. This is our first house together so it really means a lot to us."
Melissa: "Honey, what do you think?"
Husband: "Oh I am smiling, now what about the rest of the house?"
Martin: "Ok guys that is another satisfied home owner with a beautiful space to call home, it's time for me to go until we find anther home in need of Deco--Aide. Get it, Decorate, Deco--aide, I'm good and tired, I got to go."
