Room for Improvement: Anniversary Surprise

WSVN -- Small Spaces can be a challenge when it comes to decorating. You want to find just the right pieces that will enhance the room, without making it look cluttered, cozy yes, clutter no.

On today's "Room For Improvement, we are transforming a small living space from blah to beautiful in one day, so lets meet our homeowner shall we.

Martin: "Today's segment is a bit different, we are actually meeting the homeowners daughter who wants to surprise her parents with a room makeover."

Martin: "Room For Improvement."

Millie: "Hey Martin How are you?"

Martin: "Hey Millie how are you. Thank you for inviting me. So this is the space huh, it's a small space."

Martin: "So why do you want to do this for your parents?"

Millie: "I want to surprise them with something."

Martin: "How long have they been married?"

Millie: "40 years. Now they are alone and actually they have the time together and they are retired."

Martin: "I think we are going to make it happen, definitely, they are going to enjoy the golden years as they say in a beautiful brand new space."

Martin:"We have a long day ahead, we have to paint we have to shop, and there is a lot of stuff, we are going to be moving a lot around, so are you ready, are you up for the challenge cause I am up for it, lets begin."

Martin: "You ready to shop till you drop, let's go. We did some major damage, as you can see and I am just glad today I have an assistant that can help me out."

Martin: "Ok that is the last of it, let's start painting shall we."

Martin: "Ok Millie I know you wanted a rich feel for your parents house so we are going for a nice earth tone."

Martin: "Have you painted before? you're gonna start today right."

Millie: "Yeah, right."

Martin: "Ok. The painting is done, Hi Five and now we can start decorating."

Martin: "All this big furniture in the room is just not working, so we are taking it out. Let's go assistant. I love her."

if you have small space and you want to define the areas a bit more, try using a curtain pannel to act as a wall in this case, it is dividing the kitchen with all the clutter from the beautiful living room we are creating."

Martin: "No More kitchen, Kitchen."

Martin: "A wall this big really needs an ET Center to house a TV, but since it's not in our budget here I did find a solution, so help me out ok."

Martin: "This is the solution Just get two book shelves and flank the TV on either side. Just like this. Voila, in this case we are going to put the display ledge right in the center to house some picture frames some, some books and at the very end you have what looks like an ET center at a fraction of the cost."

Martin: "Ok remember at the beginning when we got rid of that big coffee table cause it just interrupted the traffic flow, so we are actually using a hamper as a coffee table isn't that a great idea, so you can put magazines and store all the little knickknacks inside, plus they can put a drink on it."

Martin: "Ok Millie we are done, you can go ahead and do the honors."

Martin: "You think your parents are going to like it, Oh My God yes, Well they are going to be here any second so let me go and change."

Martin: "Well this morning the room started off completely empty, it had no function and it lacked any style has transformed into a stylish room and I hope the homeowners like it because it is a present from their daughter Millie."

Martin:"Ok these are the homeowners. when we say three ok. one two three."

Homeowners: "Oh my God. Thank you!"

Martin: "Your welcome you deserve it."

Martin: "This is all thanks to Millie, she helped out a lot, I think I am going to take her on all the jobs with me."

It doesn't matter what language one speaks, I think the expression of happiness is completely universal and it needs no translation. So that is another makeover complete and I will see you guys next week.
