All Room for Improvement

Want to give your daughters' room a new look but don't know where to begin? The answer is simple, call the master of makeovers Martin Amado. In tonight's Room for Improvement, Martin shows us how to transform a dull space into a functional fun filled bedroom.

WSVN -- Martin Amado: "On today's Room for Improvement we're transforming a girls' bedroom into the space she always wanted. Right now it's a blank canvas for a fun and modern design so let's go meet the mom."

Martin Amado: "Room for Improvement?"

Jayme: "Hi, how are you? Come on in let me show you Erin's room."

Martin Amado: "OK, awesome."

Martin Amado: "So this is Erin's space?"

Jayme: "This is Erin's space and it's a little unique because it has that little extra portion over there that I was never quite sure what to do with."

Martin Amado: "So pretty much what is missing is the final design to bring it all together for Erin."

Jayme: "Absolutely."

Martin Amado: "OK. I think I know exactly what I'm going to do. Jayme thank you so much. I'm going to surprise you and obviously Erin at the end of the day."

Jayme: Great."

Martin Amado: "We're keeping Erin's old furniture in the bedroom, but we're adding new pieces to give it a brand new look. We're also changing the room's layout, dividing it into three functional areas, so let's get to work."

Martin Amado: "These white sheers against a sold wall color just does nothing for me, so the first thing we're going to do is swap them out."

Martin Amado: "Perfect, now the windows have personality."

Martin Amado: "Now with the window treatments up we can start rearranging the furniture. As you can tell most of it is on this side of the bedroom, yet this area back here is not being used to its full potential, but that's about to change."

Martin Amado: "There we go. So now this alcove has a better purpose, becoming a mini dressing room for Erin."

Martin Amado: "And now we're turning this empty corner into the perfect study area, by placing the new desk that I got for Erin."

Martin Amado: "Parents often complain there's not enough storage in their kids rooms. My suggestion is to use vertical space as much as possible along the walls, and that's why this ledge is the perfect solution."

Martin Amado: "Let's make the bed my favorite part."

Martin Amado: "Now with all the toss pillows in different sizes, we have a mini-sofa that Erin can use during the day."

Martin Amado: "And the final touch is to use this bookcase as a room divider separating our new dressing area over here from the bedroom on this side."

Martin Amado: "This morning Erin's bedroom lacked sparkle, it was functional but it needed to reflect her true personality. By infusing the room with bright colors, a new layout and some new furniture pieces as well, this room now rocks for under $1,200."

Martin Amado: "At the count of one, two, three."

Erin: "Cool."

Martin Amado: "You like it?"

Jayme: Wow! It's amazing!

Martin Amado: "So you're happy, satisfied, well give a kiss to your mom for doing this for you for calling Room for Improvement and for letting me come into your house and letting me do this for you as well. To all the viewers at home we thank you for watching and we'll see you next time on another Room for Improvement."
