All Room for Improvement

The holidays are right around the corner. Always a time to entertain friends and family, but how to give your home a face lift for the season in tonight's Room for Improvement, Seven's Martin Amado shows us some simple ideas that puts a little glamour into a tired living space.

WSVN -- Martin Amado: "Today's homeowner on Room for Improvement recently moved into her brand new apartment. She has some nice pieces from all over the world, but it's not quite there yet in terms of her style, but of course, we're here to help to get it ready just in time for the holiday season. Let's go meet her."

Martin Amado: "Room for Improvement? Ready for today?"

Venina: "I'm ready."

Martin Amado: "Let's go check out your living room."

Venina: "Alright, awesome."

Martin Amado: "OK Venina, tell me about your style?"

Martin Amado: "Well, right now it's a mismatch of things as you can see."

Martin Amado: "I would say you have a modern global style if you will. You can say that yes, would you agree with that?"

Venina: "Yes."

Martin Amado: "So let me get to work and make it happen for you and of course, we'll suprise you at the end."

Martin Amado: "Vanina has some beautiful ethnic pieces throughout her house, but the challenge is making it work with her more contemporary style. We have to acheive that perfect balance. So first up we're going to paint an accent wall for more drama in the living room."

Martin Amado: "I love this color. Love it, love it, love it."

Martin Amado: "Perfect, I love how the sofa pops against the new wall color."

Martin Amado: "Even though we had a beautiful tapestry on this wall, I replaced it with two modern prints instead. This way we balance out the two design styles that Vanina likes."

Martin Amado: "The living room is looking good, but we can't ignore this side of the room because it's part of an open floor plan. Now, I noticed that Vanina has these two bookcases right over here and I have an idea."

Martin Amado: "Nice. I decided to move the two bookcases over to this side of the room and use one of them as a divider wall. Now, I know the backside is not the most attractive thing in the world to look at, but I have a solution."

Martin Amado: "The final touch is lighting a candle and I hope Vanina likes her new global modern living room."

Martin Amado: "This morning, Vanina had a sense of what decor she liked, but she had trouble putting the different styles together. By painting an accent wall, reworking a bookcase and playing up modern pieces to compliment her existing global touches. We made her vision come to life for under $500."

Martin Amado: "Here we go at the count of three, one, two, three. Open your eyes."

Venina: "Oh, my God."

Martin Amado: "Does it look much better?"

Martin Amado: "It looks awesome."

Martin Amado: "Thank you so much for letting me do this for you. To all the viewers out there thank you for watching. We'll see you next time on another Room for Improvement."
