All Room for Improvement

We all like having our own personal space to sit back and relax, but sometimes there isn't an extra room in the house. Enter our makeover maestro with a father's day wish turning a storage area, into the perfect media room in tonight's Room for Improvement.

WSVN -- When it comes to decorating typically woman are in charge, but on today's Room for Improvement its all about the man of the house, as we create the perfect space for him, and i'm not talking about the garage, In honor of Father's day."

Martin: "All right, so tell me about the space right now. What do you like about it? How is it being used?"

Walter: "I would like to have a room for myself. Right now the use that we have been giving to the room is pretty much like a storage."

Martin: "Okay, so we are going to make it happen in one day, go off to work, and I'm going to get to work as well."

So the only thing in the room right now that says home theater is that big screen television. We have to come up with a better way to display his collectibles, add some darker wood tones, and of course some leather accents. And in the end we'll have the perfect guys domain."

DESIGN DIRECTION:

When your dealing with a small room angling furniture takes up much needed space, especially in the corners, so the solution is to place it flat against this wall and build the entire room around it.

Martin: "Perfect, this gives us the pop up color and design that we need in the room."

SMALL WONDER:

We already found a home for some of Walter's collectables in the bookcases, but we still have some more pieces, and the perfect place to display them on the walls is to use these shadow boxes."

MARTIN'S MAGIC:

By placing two stools across from each other and a piece of glass over it, we're going to create my version of a modern desk. Now here's the follow up tip, make sure you place these rubber bumpers on the stool surface themselves to protect the glass and secure it in place.

Martin: "So the final touch is this art work that picks up on the circle them we have going through out the room. Now its time for me to just sit back, relax, wait for Walter, and enjoy my favorite show."

Martin: "This morning Walter's wish was to have a media room that was both functional and stylish, we made the television the focal point, added wood finishes and comfortable furniture and we accomplished that for a budget of under $1000."

Martin: "At the count of three, one, two, three. Open your eyes."

Walter: "Oh my god, It looks great."

Martin: "Isn't it amazing."

Walter: "It looks great, it looks more spacious, bigger than before."

Walter: "Oh, this is so comfy"

Martin: "Well, I'll leave Walter right where he is. Thank you so much for watching, this is another Room for Improvement and I'll see you next time.
