Getting a new look for your living room is easy, if you know the trick to re-arranging your furniture. In tonight's Room for Improvement, makeover master Martin Amado shares a few tricks for giving that old room a whole new style.

WSVN -- Martin Amado: "The key to giving any room in your home a fresh update without spending too much money, is to simply rearrange the furniture and that's exactly what we're doing on today's Room for Improvement with this living room. We're keeping the old, adding some new pieces, but most important, we're switching things around."

Martin Amado: "What's not working for you?"

Helen Schulman: "Nothing works in my living room. It doesn't flow, it doesn't feel warm. It just needs a lot of help."

Martin: "Well, I promise that working with what you have, small changes are going to make a big difference in the end, OK?"

Helen Schulman: "I can't wait!"

Martin Amado: "Furniture placement in a room determines the flow and overall harmony in a space and this living room needs some help. By angling the sofa we have this completely wasted corner back here and of course this massive entertainment unit near the door is overpowering, so this is the first thing we have to move guys."

Martin Amado: "OK, so we've all heard of the term bringing the outdoors in, but that doesn't include patio furniture. Ellen actually brought this chair in because she needs additional seating in her living room and I found a much better solution, trust me."

Martin Amado: "Whew! Two more pieces to go!"

Martin Amado: "OK, so before we had one large open area and by placing the couch in this position we gained a more intimate living area, and over here, a small foyer."

Martin Amado: "Verticals are functional because they control light and offer privacy, but I know they can appear dated. So, the solution here is to add a layer of sheer curtain panels right over it. It dresses up the window and hides the verticals."

Martin Amado: "This coffee table was only $39 on clearance, a great bargain."

Martin Amado: "Now, I replaced the patio chair with this armless chair I found for only $50 on clearance. It's a great way to add additional seating in a room without taking up too much space. I love the clean lines."

Martin Amado: "This morning Helen's living room seemed disconnected from the rest of the house. By rearranging some of her existing pieces and replacing some with a more stylish solution we gave her a space that makes a great first impression, all for under $500."

Martin Amado: "At the count of 1, 2, 3, go ahead and open your eyes!"

Helen Schulman: "WOW! Are we in the right house?"

Martin Amado: "I know right? It's a big difference, huh?"

Helen Schulman: "Oh wow!"

Martin Amado: "All right guys, thank you so much for letting us do this for you, for allowing us into your home."

Helen Schulman: "Thank you!"

Martin Amado: "To all the viewers, thank you for watching at home and we'll see you next time on another Room for Improvement!"
