Room for Improvement: Patio
The weather is nice outside and that means many of us want to enjoy our outdoor spaces. Tonight, our makeover maestro, Martin Amado, is here to show us how to arrange and decorate an outdoor patio. Let's see Martin get to work on Room For Improvement.
WSVN -- Martin Amado: "When decorating an outdoor space the same principals apply as if you are decorating an indoor room. So, on today's Room for Improvement we are transforming this terrace into a second living area to be used year round. Let's get started."
Martin Amado: "I love these and I'm sure we could use them later when we're done."
Martin Amado: "All right, now we have a blank slate. Notice that before, the homeowners were only using the middle of the terrace. In reality it's so large that we can divide it into two living areas, that's the plan. First lets take down all the measurements."
Martin Amado: "Perfect! Now, let's go shopping for new furniture."
Martin Amado "And this is exactly what I'm looking for."
Martin Amado: "In the future the homeowners are placing a TV on this wall, which is the reason for the furniture placement. Now, we have our outdoor living room. Look at the space we gained over here. So, let's concentrate on this area."
Martin Amado: "The woven surface on the coffee table is sometimes not too practical to place on a drink, not too stable. So, the solution is this round piece of glass right on top, and it looks great for only 40 dollars."
Martin Amado: "Wow! This is looking awesome. We have our two seating arrangements. Now, we can move on to the decorative accessories."
Martin Amado: "Adding outdoor panels on the terrace gives it an instant cabana look. I love it."
Martin Amado: "By buying planters that match the furniture, we give the entire terrace a clean and modern look."
Martin Amado: "I bought the seat cushions in a deep chocolate on purpose to hide all the dirt being outdoors, and I'm adding a pop of color with the accent pillows."
Martin Amado: "Monogrammed toss pillows are a big design trend in home decor, but they can be quite expensive. For only $10 I bought this pillow cover and it adds an elegant touch here in the outdoor patio."
Martin Amado: "This morning the terrace was not decorated to its potential. By buying an outdoor furniture set that offers durability and style, we now created two separate areas the family can use for relaxing and entertaining."
Martin Amado: "So, just think of your outdoor space as a room without walls and this is what you can create. Until next time, I'm Martin Amado and I'll see you on Room for Improvement."
