Room for Improvement: Master Bedroom
Busy moms know how hard it is to find time for themselves. But tonight, we are helping one lucky mom spruce up her master suite in time for her birthday. Our makeover maestro, Martin Amado, is here with tonight's "Room for Improvement."
WSVN -- Martin Amado: "Nature showcases the beauty of each season throughout the year, and of course, we can do the same with our home decor. So on today's 'Room for Improvement,' we are helping one mom achieve the master bedroom of her dreams, inspired by fall. Let's go meet her."
Martin Amado: "All right, Julie so I know that you are a busy mom and this makeover is actually a gift for yourself?"
Julie: "It was my birthday gift to myself."
Martin Amado: "So what do you envision at the end?"
Julie: "I envision a place that I can come and read and just be a nice, quiet, peaceful place."
Martin Amado: "That's my goal. So I'll make it happen, and of course we'll surprise you at the end."
Julie: "All right, sounds good."
Martin Amado: "We have a mismatch of furniture pieces in the room right now, and we also have some storage issues. So of course, we'll address all of this for her and give her the master bedroom of her dreams. Let's get to work."
Martin Amado: "All right, so let's count how many chairs we have in the room right now. One, two, three, and last but not least, number four. I have something much better for her coming up."
Martin Amado: "I love how it compliments the rust color we have on the walls. Hello, can we say fall?"
Martin Amado: "A three-piece lamp set gives you more bang for your buck. I'm using two of the lamps on each of the night stands and one in the cozy reading corner that Julie wants."
Martin Amado: "This piece is actually a sideboard typically used in the dining room, but I love the height, so I'm going to use it instead as a media base."
Martin Amado: "Now unlike a media base, sideboards don't bring the opening in the back that allows you to pass the cord through for all the media components. But we can easily open one up using a hole saw."
Martin Amado: "Nice, huh?"
Martin Amado: "I love the artwork, but the scale is too big for the space."
Martin Amado: "You can never have too many candles to create that romantic ambiance in a master bedroom, and I hope Julie likes it. We're done."
Martin Amado: "This morning, the master bedroom had a lot of potential, but it still needed some additional pieces to bring it al together. Inspired by a fall color scheme in the bedding, we added a sideboard as a media base and a comfortable chair to create a reading corner. Now, we gave Julie the master bedroom she dreamed of."
Julie: "Oh, my God. Wow."
Martin Amado: "Do you guys like it?"
Martin Amado: "So what do you think, Julie?"
Julie: "It's beautiful. It looks totally different."
Martin Amado: "Thank you so much for letting me do this for you. Happy Birthday. To all the guys out there, this is a great birthday gift to your wives and your girlfriends, right Julie?"
Martin Amado: "So, to all the viewers out there, we thank you for watching, and we'll see you next time on another 'Room for Improvement.'"
