Room for Improvement: Boys Room

WSVN -- Martin Amado: "Today's Room for Improvement is full of surprises. We are decorating a boys room but he's getting much more than a room makeover, there's a big surprise waiting for him at the end as well."

Martin Amado: "Tell me about Joey?"

Mom: "Joey is 10 years old. He is a huge Heat fan, very active in sports. He plays basketball."

Dad: "Wade is his favorite player. He likes to go to the Heat games with his grandfather. Just an overall great fan, great kid."

Martin Amado: :"Awesome. So let me get to work and of course we are going to surprise you and Joey at the end. Have fun."

Martin Amado: "The first thing that we did is get rid of the dated and oversized furniture. In its place we have more contemporary pieces. We also painted the background in a softer pale gray so that the accent colors in red and black really pop. Let's get to work completing the space."

Martin Amado: "By placing the bed like this, I gain more space right in front of it. Now, because we don't have a traditional head board I'm using artwork, bookcases and additional shelves to create a more custom built in look right around it."

Martin Amado: "So, by installing this actually lower, we created a chair rail out of the hats. Pretty cool."

Martin Amado: "Final touch and we are done. I hope Joey likes his new bedroom."

Martin Amado: "Before Joey's bedroom lacked any storage and was overcrowded with too many things. So, we started we a clean slate inspired by the colors of the Miami Heat, and now we have a space that reflects Joey's passion and love for the team."

Martin Amado: "One, two, three. Go ahead and open your eyes."

Mom: "Oh my god. wow, how cool is this."

Martin Amado: "Look and see who's knocking. Be careful."

Martin Amado: "It's Bernie. And look what he has for you."

Mom: "Oh my god Joey. You got your own jersey. Yay."

Martin Amado: "Well listen this is thanks to your mom who called me and your dad of course thanks to Bernie and the entire team at the Miami Heat for making this possible as well and all the goodies that they gave you. And to all the viewers at home, we thank you so much for watching and we'll see you next time on another Room for Improvement."
