Room for Improvement: Master Bedroom

WSVN -- Martin Amado: "A Hollywood glamorous style is a hot design trend we see in home decor. So on today's Room for Improvement, we are giving this master bedroom the star treatment it deserves, with some cool ideas you can also do on your own."

Martin Amado: "So when you think of Hollywood, you think of drama, and we definitely have it in this headboard. It's large, it's the focal point of the bedroom, and it looks fantastic. So a good tip if you are tired of your existing furniture is to simply switch it out to something like this."

Martin Amado: "Another tip to reflect the glam style is to use mirrored furniture."

Martin Amado: "You can buy the piece already done, or you can save money and simply reface your existing night stand."

Martin Amado: "What you want to do is take the drawers to a mirror shop and have them custom cut the pieces for the facade. They can even install them, too. This entire project was only $100."

Martin Amado: "By recycling the mirror from the dresser onto the night stand, we create more visual impact as soon as you enter the master bedroom."

Martin Amado: "My color scheme for the entire bedroom is gray, purple and white. But guys, don't freak out over the purple, because if you notice, it is a deeper plum color, so it still keeps it very gender neutral."

Martin Amado: "It's the different textures that really keeps it visually interesting."

Martin Amado: "I wanted to keep the artwork on this wall behind me fairly simple. So I'm installing these traditional wood sconces. To give it a more modern look, though, I'm spray-painting them first in this mirrored, chrome finish."

Martin Amado: "Everything's A-OK."

Martin Amado: "The panels before were too heavy, so by switching them out to these sheer white ones, it really complements the Hollywood glam decor."

Martin Amado: "I'm taking a decorative mirror and gluing a photo frame in the very center. Now, the mirror behind it becomes a photo mat."

Martin Amado: "Beautiful. You can certainly buy a frame like this already done, but it's going to cost you a lot more money. At least now, every time you see it, you can take pride in saying, 'I did it myself.'"

Martin Amado: "A comfy rug at the foot of the bed, and we are done."

Martin Amado: "This morning, we were inspired by a Hollywood glam style. We took what could have been a traditional bedroom, added reflective surfaces, a lot of bling and created a modern master suite. Now, the homeowners can feel like true superstars. For Room for Improvement, I'm Martin Amado."
