All Room for Improvement

It's time to get creative. Our makeover maestro, Martin Amado is here joining us on Room for Improvement. And tonight, he is giving back to some special people who give lots to ill children around the world.

WSVN -- Martin Amado: "Today, we have a very special Room for Improvement. We're giving back to a non-profit organization here at Jackson Memorial Hospital who give so much to children in need."

The IKF Wonderfund is part of Jackson's Memorial Foundation. It raises money with the help of sponsors for kids who need life saving medical treatment.

Maria-Luisa Chea: "IKF stands for International Kids Fund, that's use to be our full name. Usually, we are dealing with International children who can not get that care at home because it is not available and we bring them here to Jackson's Holtz Children Hospital where they get excellent care."

Martin Amado: "OK, Maria Luisa so tell what your issues are with the reception area at the moment.

Maria-Luisa Chea: "We have all this space that is not being used right now ,and it takes up all wonderful space that we could use to receive our families, which are cramped in a little corner.

Martin Amado: "So its not being used to its full potential. So, I have some pretty good ideas we'll surprise you and your staff at the end."

Martin Amado: "The first thing that we did was paint all the walls using the colors in our logo as our inspiration. Then, we removed the cubicle that was here before and now. We have this additional floor space that we are using as our new seating areas for the families. Last but not least, we have brand new vinyl flooring."

Martin Amado: "If you fall in love with the sofa, but don't necessarily like the matching toss pillows that come with it, remember that an easy fix is to simply swap them out."

Martin Amado: "We are designing a space that needs to be kid friendly, which is the reason I opted for outdoor toss pillows because of the stain resistant fabric. It's more heavy duty."

Martin Amado: "I needed artwork for this cubicle wall. So, a great solution was to print images of the children that Wonferfund has helped out on lightweight foam core, and when hang it we have a nice graphic element on the wall."

Martin Amado: "Before the Wonderfund office was functional, but not very inviting. Now, with the color scheme, furniture and specific area for the kids to play in it reflects all the happiness and hope to children in need."

Maria-Luisa Chea: "Awww. Oh my goodness. What we've always wanted.

Martin Amado: "You wanted more of a home setting and I think we achieved that."

"It has a lot of love which I think is the meaning behind all this. Not just the makeover itself, but what the organization does and the love you give to all the families."

Martin Amado: "And to you guys at home, we thank you so much for watching and we'll see you next time on another Room for Improvement. Bye guys."
