All Room for Improvement

For most of us, the bedroom is a little getaway after a long day. So tonight, our makeover maestro, Martin Amado, is here to help one woman turn her room into a master suite. Let's watch Martin get to work on Room for Improvement.

WSVN -- Martin Amado: "On today's Room for Improvement, we're helping the homeowner transform her master bedroom into a master suite. At the moment, when you first walk into the bedroom, all you see is lots of furniture. It's missing all the decorative touches. So you know if I'm here, that's about to change in one day. Let's go meet her."

Martin Amado: "Room for Improvement."

Martin Amado: "I got to say, I love the space. It's really big. What is it about the space that you're not happy with right now?"

Maritza: "Well, we moved in about a year ago, and we have not done much with the room as you can see. There's a lot of furniture, a lot of stuff, but it doesn't come together."

Martin Amado: "Let me get to work. See you soon."

Martin Amado: "The furniture layout can make a big difference in any space. So for example, on this one wall, we have two massive pieces of furniture that visually clutter up the area. So the first step is to move the chest over to another wall and make the dresser the new base for the television."

Martin Amado: "Before, the flat screen on top of the chest drew too much attention. By placing it on a lower surface on top of the dresser, it now blends better in the bedroom."

Martin Amado: "With the new space that we gained, we can now incorporate a new seating area like Marisa wished for."

Martin Amado: "Now, the beautiful curtains replace the dated verticals."

Martin Amado: "The empty wall above the headboard is screaming for something. So of course, I have just the thing."

Martin Amado: "All right guys, pop quiz. Can you guess what the decorating dilemma is with this area right over here? If you guess too much black, you are correct. So a simple fix is to switch out the lamp shade, and we have brand-new bedding to freshen everything up."

Martin Amado: "Maritza loves the color purple, so instead of making the bedding that entire color, I've decided to break it up by adding some silver, and this way, it also appeals to her husband."

Martin Amado: "This is how the homeowners felt with the way their master bedroom looked liked before."

Martin Amado: "This morning, Maritza was unhappy with her bedroom décor. Even though the furniture style was a bit on the traditional side, she wanted to go in a more modern direction."

Martin Amado: "This is where all the decorative accessories made a big difference. The gray and deep purple color scheme gave the bedroom a brand new look that reflects Maritza's style."

Maritza: "Oh my God, the chair."

Martin Amado: "She's speechless, she doesn't know what to say."

Maritza: "It looks like a luxury hotel."

Martin Amado: "Are you happy?"

Maritza: "Yes."

Martin Amado: "We thank you for watching, and we'll see you on another Room for Improvement. OK, you can scream now."
