Posted: 12/21/12
If you are getting ready to celebrate the holidays, but need more extra room in your house, don't forget about the outdoors. Our makeover maestro, Martin Amado, is showing us simple decorating tips for a welcoming patio.
Martin Amado: "As you know many holiday get togethers happen during this time of the year. If you are hosting a dinner party and are looking for additional entertaining space than look no further than your outdoor patio."
Martin Amado: "This covered terrace is the perfect space where your guests can have appetizers or maybe even drinks outside. However, the current furniture is just not going to cut it."
Martin Amado: "Now, I have a clean slate to work my magic. I'll be right back."
Martin Amado: "An outdoor area rug helps to create a more welcoming environment, just like we would find inside the house."
Martin Amado: "This love seat gives me the look of wicker, but its really made out of outdoor plastic. It's highly weather resistant."
Martin Amado: "I like using pedestals to elevate potted plants. It fills up an empty corner, plus it just looks nice."
Martin Amado: "If your patio furniture is starting to show the signs of wear and tear, give it a spruce up now for the holidays with some simple spray paint."
Martin Amado: "A basic grouping in a living room is to use a sofa with a chair or possibly a love seat. So, of course this accent chair works perfectly out here as well."
Martin Amado: "Tabletop fountains are an inexpensive way to add the relaxing sound of water in a patio."
Martin Amado: "These beautiful hurricane lanterns add the perfect ambiance at night as well."
Martin Amado: "A nice way to also display small plants like an orchid, is to place them inside a glass container like this one."
Martin Amado: "This morning the small patio wasn't being used to its full potential. By creating an inviting living room setting. We now have the perfect space for entertaining outdoors. Even during the holidays. Its one of the many perks of living in south Florida. Until next time, I'm Martin Amado for seven news. Happy Holidays."
