Room for Improvement: Living Room
We all spend a lot of time in our living rooms, but sometimes this important space doesn't get the attention it deserves. Our makeover maestro is about to change all that in tonight's Room for Improvement.
WSVN -- Martin Amado: "On today's Room for Improvement we're taking a very safe living room, meaning its all beige on beige -- you know who you are -- and we're giving it the punch of color that it deserves. Let's meet the homeowner.
Martin Amado: "Sherry, I love your home. It is so spacious, but I understand you're not completely happy with the way it looks right now.
Sherry: "That's correct."
Martin Amado: "And why is that?"
Sherry: "Well, being that we just moved here, I didn't know how to make my old furniture work in the new space."
Martin Amado: "I'm going to get to work, and I'm going to surprise you at the end with not only the living room makeover, but the foyer, because both spaces are open to each other."
Martin Amado: "All right, so take a look around. Everything that you see is pretty much neutral, from the carpet, to the furniture, even the wall paint. First up: window treatments."
Martin Amado: "We already have functional plantation shutters, but by adding curtain panels on either side of the window, it not only helps us to frame this wall, but it also lets us add a bit more color."
Martin Amado: "Now, let's move on to rearranging the furniture."
Martin Amado: "All right, last piece. Now, we have a cozier furniture arrangement."
Martin Amado: "The sofas have a lot of brown and black. So, let's punch up the color with some new toss pillows."
Martin Amado: "This natural orchid plant really adds a touch of elegance here in the living room."
Martin Amado: "The living room has come to life with pops of color. Now, lets work on the foyer, because it is open to the entire space."
Martin Amado: "This is the main wall that you see as soon as you walk in the front door. So I wanted to make a dramatic impact, and to do that I decided to go with this beautiful wall treatment. It resembles bamboo, and it already gives me instant artwork in the space. I love it."
Martin Amado: "This morning, Sherry's living room was void of any color. Now, with the new decorative accessories, a new furniture arrangement, and of course, the pops of color throughout the room, it really reflects her personality and feels just like home."
Martin Amado: "I know you want your best friend Robin to be here with you as well, so here we go. Go ahead: open your eyes."
Sherry: "Oh wow."
Robin: "Oh my gosh, that looks great. It looks very nice."
Martin Amado: "I see a little bit of watery eyes. Yay!"
Martin Amado: "I hope you're happy. Well, enjoy it. And to you guys at home, we thank you for watching and we'll see you on another Room for Improvement."
