All Room for Improvement

Many people like to clean up their homes and even decorate during the New Year so tonight, our makeover maestro, Martin Amado is here to help one woman define her sense of style. Let's watch on Room for Improvement.

WSVN -- Martin Amado: "Hi guys. Happy New Year! Well with the new year you might be thinking about refreshing the look of your home. Well that's exactly what we're doing on today's Room for Improvement. We are helping a homeowner find her perfect style."

Martin Amado: "All right Maria, I'm loving your dining room table but I know your not to happy with the way the dining room looks right now."

"For some time, I've been really afraid to commit to getting curtains up or anything like that so I think this is great that you are coming here to help me out."

Martin Amado: "Well, I'm here to save you for 2013."

Martin Amado: "We have a beautiful dining table, but the rest of the space looks quite bare. So, first up on the agenda is brand new window treatments, creating a more elegant backdrop."

Martin Amado: "Here's a good tip to install a perfectly straight curtain rod. Drill one bracket first, use a small level in the very center when the bubble is in the very middle now you can go a head and do your markings for this bracket."

Martin Amado: "I love these curtain panels. The baroque pattern gives it a very elegant look, but the grommets keep it contemporary. It's the perfect balance."

Martin Amado: "Now, I want to move the dining table because I have something very special and dramatic going on this one wall."

Martin Amado: "You always want to make sure its in the center of the chandelier."

Martin Amado: "Wow. Now this is drama. I love it. So if you are looking for only one thing that will completely update your dining room, invest on a floor mirror like this one. It looks beautiful."

Martin Amado: "For safety reasons, you can install these anti skip pads on the very bottom and that way you are not going to risk it tipping over."

Martin Amado: "Sometimes having too many dining chairs around the table can make the space look very congested. A good option is to separate the arm chairs and place them up against the wall like I did here and it helps to fill up an empty space."

Martin Amado: "This is a very traditional use for a table runner, so by placing it the opposite way, it looks more modern."

Martin Amado: "These were 40 bucks. You can't beat the look."
Martin Amado: "All right, we are ready for that dinner party."

Martin Amado: "This morning Maria's dining room felt incomplete. By adding window treatments, decorative accessories and a modern mirror that makes a statement in the room, we now have the elegant setting she always wanted."

"Oh my gosh! It looks awesome! It looks so large.

Martin Amado: Its a subtle change, but it makes a big difference, which is what we did."

Martin Amado: To all you guys at home, we thank you so much for watching and we'll see you next time on another Room for Improvement and Happy New Year."
