All Room for Improvement

Having a work space at home is always a plus, it helps keeping your documents in order among other things. So, tonight our makeover maestro, Martin Amado, is here to show us how to create a multifunctional loft space.

WSVN -- Martin Amado: "It seems we all have a need for a home office nowadays. So, on today's Room for Improvement, we are turning this loft space into the perfect work area that's both productive and decorative for the homeowner."

Martin Amado: "At the moment, this loft area isn't being used by the homeowner. Therefore, I think its the perfect space to create the home office she needs. Now, we can still keep a small seating area, but what we desperately need is a work surface to make it functional for her. So, let's begin."

Martin Amado: "This coffee table takes up too much space."

Martin Amado: "The bookcases are staying because obviously they make an office more functional. I'm just moving them to either side of the window so that we free up this area for the desk."

Martin Amado: "Now, its time to assemble the desk and this is just one piece of many."

Martin Amado: "Oh, still not done."

Martin Amado: "It looks great. Now, I chose a modular desk because in the future you can always add extensions and configure it in many different ways for your family's growing needs."

Martin Amado: "Perfect, I love it. By floating a bookcase horizontally above the desk not only do we gain additional storage space, we also have these niches for decorative accessories."

Martin Amado: "Missing piece, the desk chair and we are done."

Martin Amado: "This morning we took an unused loft space and by incorporating a work area we now created the perfect multifunctional space the home owner desired. Now, this is exactly what a home office should look like. Its the perfect balance between style and function that inspires creativity and most importantly, productivity. Until next time, I'm Martin Amado for Room for Improvement. Now, get out of here, I need to work."
