Room for Improvement: Easter Table
Easter is about one week away, and if you are planning an egg hunt for the kids or, better yet, a Sunday brunch, our makeover maestro Martin Amado has tips to make your party sparkle.
WSVN -- Martin Amado: "Easter is a special day of the year where we can celebrate with family, friends and, of course, the kids. On today's Room for Improvement, I'm going to show you some quick and easy table setting ideas that will capture the magic of spring for that perfect brunch."
Martin Amado: "Our inspiration for the table setting comes from all the beautiful colors that we see now in the spring. So, of course, we think of pastels, whites, and we are giving it that Easter twist. Let's get to work."
Martin Amado: "There's nothing like a crisp white table cloth to be the backdrop for our entire design."
Martin Amado: "A good tip to not iron a large the table cloth like this one, is to go ahead and stick it in the dryer for, like, 30 minutes on high heat, and it really helps to smooth out all the wrinkles."
Martin Amado: "As placemats, and also to add some color on the table, I'm using scrapbooking paper. Isn't that a great idea?"
Martin Amado: "In the end, just throw them away and easy clean up."
Martin Amado: "It's OK to mix and match the plates, as long as you maintain a similar color scheme."
Martin Amado: "These miniature grapevine wreaths remind me of bird nests. I think it's very appropriate for our spring table, given that for 19 cents I can actually use them as napkin rings."
Martin Amado: "For my centerpiece, I'm using a cake stand and this beautiful egg wreath right on top, and I'm finishing it off with an Easter bunny."
Martin Amado: "Now, for the sides, I'm taking a wine glass, placing some decorative grass right inside, and then I can use an egg sphere right on top, turning it into a pedestal, and now we have a topiary."
Martin Amado: "Garlands like this one also make a great filer for a table setting."
Martin Amado: "For the kids, Easter, of course, is all about the candy, so it's nice to personalize a place setting just for them by placing down the things they love the most."
Martin Amado: "It can't be spring or Easter without beautiful flowers in the form of tulips, and for my flower vase I'm actually going to use a ceramic pitcher."
Martin Amado: "All right, guys, so for very little money, and by actually recycling things we might already have in our kitchen cupboards, we created a beautiful table setting to celebrate that Easter brunch with family and friends. Remember, when you take a little time to really set the mood like this, it really enhances the entire celebration. Your guests won't forget it. Until next time, I'm Martin Amado for 7News."
