Room for Improvement: Pool
Martin Amado: "One of the perks of living in South Florida is being able to enjoy your swimming pool year-round. So on today's "Room For Improvement" we are turning a barren pool area into a resort-style oasis."
WSVN -- Martin Amado: "Room for Improvement."
Gloria: "Hi Martin How are you?"
Martin Amado: "This is a very nice bonus to have here on your home, but you guys don't enjoy it as often I guess."
Gloria: "We just don't feel like we've done enough to it. It's like nothing, it's dead I want to make it warm and inviting."
Martin Amado: "The goal with this pool area is to soften the surrounding hardscape and tie it a bit more to the rest of the home. Umbrellas, plants and patio furniture are the way to go to do that."
This backyard really needs a focal point and I am thinking a gazebo placed right on top of the hot tub will do the trick. What's nice about the gazebo is it provides shade but at the same time at night for a more romantic setting, you can just go ahead and close off the panels.
Martin Amado: "These dollar beach mats make the perfect scatter rugs."
Martin Amado: "Some nice rolled up towels just like you'll find at a 5-star hotel."
We have a lot of space to work with so these two palms will add just the right amount of plants without going overboard.
Martin Amado: "A hammock and umbrella on this corner are perfect to spend a relaxing afternoon reading a book."
These decorative hooks are perfect for little tee light holders or even as a towel holder once you get out of the pool or the hot tub.
Martin Amado: "Final touch a tropical plant and we are done."
Martin Amado: "Before the pool felt disconnected from the home and the surroundings were completely bare. Now a gazebo creates a focal point, the umbrellas remind you of a tropical paradise and the entire space has a resort-like feel.
Martin Amado: "One, Two, Three, Open your eyes."
Gloria: "Oh my god, this is so awesome. I love it, this is amazing! Now I'll be able to come out and enjoy my space."
Martin Amado: "It's always nice to get away for the weekend but with a beatiful resort setting like that, I think the Rodriguez family can now enjoy a mini-vacation in their own backyard. Until next week."
